TYLER, TEXAS – UT Tyler men's and women's tennis continue to be in the upper echelon of Division II tennis, now both inside the top 15 of the ITA Computerized Rankings.
The men's program now sits at #4 in the latest rankings, moving up one spot after a 2-1 weekend that only featured a narrow defeat to #2 West Florida.
Barry, West Florida, Lubbock Christian, UT Tyler, and Flagler make up the top five in this week's rankings as released on Wednesday.
Leading that high ranking is five ranked singles players and two doubles teams. In singles,
Malo Poulesquen is #10,
Samuel Antwi is #26,
Artiom Dorofeev is #28,
Carel Wessel is #37, and
Daniil Felker is #38. In doubles, Felker and Wessel combine to be ranked #9, while Antwi and Dorofeev are #41.
On the women's side, the Patriots are #13 and up seven spots this week after going 1-2 with a pair of narrow losses to #2 West Florida and #3 West Alabama and a big win over #25 Auburn Montgomery.
West Alabama, West Florida, Barry, North Georgia, and Midwestern State make up the top five in this week's rankings.
Yona Bancarel leads that charge as the only Patriots singles player ranked as she slides in at #11. She also pairs with teammate
Natalia Gorzny in doubles to be the #11 ranked pair.
