RICHARDSON, TEXAS – UT Tyler women's tennis player Yona Bancarel has earned the Lone Star Conference Women's Singles Player of the Week as announced Thursday.
 
Bancarel becomes the fourth Patriot to earn an weekly LSC award this season and second women's player, joining teammate Hailey Zhang.
 
The #11 ranked junior from Toulouse, France went 3-0 last weekend, all in the #1 line. Her week started with a 7-5, 6-4 win over the then #11 ranked singles player in Division II as the Patriots took on #2 West Florida.
 
She continued her week with a 6-0, 3-6, 6-3 win against #3 West Alabama, and finally capped it off on Sunday with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Auburn Montgomery. She would also add a 2-1 record in the #1 doubles line, earning wins over West Alabama and Auburn Montgomery.  
 
Bancarel will help lead the Patriots into their lone matchup up the week as they take on #9 Mississippi College on Friday at 10 a.m. in Clinton, Mississippi.
