RICHARDSON, TEXAS – UT Tyler women's tennis took both the singles and doubles Lone Star Conference Player of the Week award as announced on Thursday.
Yona Bancarel earned the LSC Women's Singles Player of the Week award, her second of the season, after going 2-0 in the #1 line with wins over Cameron and Midwestern State. She extended her match winning streak to seven with last week's results that included a thrilling three set match over Midwestern State that also served as the match-winning point to keep the Patriots undefeated in LSC play.
Bancarel teamed with
Natalia Gorzny in doubles to earn the LSC Women's Doubles Players of the Week award, the first honor of the season for the Patriots. The pair went 2-0 against Cameron and Midwestern State, taking wins of 6-2 and 6-1, each in the #1 line.
The Patriots are in the midst of playing Texas A&M-Kingsville, and will match up with #25 Angelo State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
