HOW WE GOT HERE

The Patriots have put together yet another impressive season at 21-5 overall, with runner-up finishes in the LSC regular season and postseason tournament. This is the fourth straight season the Patriots have won 20 matches, extending their program record.

The Patriots finished fifth at the ITA Indoor Championships this season and then took that momentum to a runner-up finish in the LSC regular season with their lone loss coming to Lubbock Christian.

They would also finish as runner-up in the LSC Tournament, again falling to Lubbock Christian in the championship match. That would secure them as the No. 2 seed in the NCAA South Central Regional, meaning they would host for a fifth straight season. There, they took down No. 3 seed Cameron 4-0, advancing themselves to the NCAA Round of 16 for the fifth straight season.

THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP

This week's NCAA Championship will be hosted at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Arizona. The complex features 25 total courts and will play host to the entirety of the men's and women's championships. It's the fifth time the complex has hosted the championships and first time since 2021.

UT Tyler has been named the No. 4 seed this week and will face off against No. 13 seed Charleston (WV) in the opening round for the first meeting in program history between the two schools.

The opening round will take place on May 20th with the quarterfinals following on May 21st. The advancing teams will then take a day off before the semifinals on May 23rd and the championship on May 24th.

THE GOLDEN EAGLES

Charleston heads into the NCAA Championship on a 12 match win streak and are 14-7 on the season. They began the spring season with seven straight losses before running the table in Mountain East Conference play at 6-0 to win the title. They followed that up with an MEC tournament win, and then added a 4-0 win over West Virginia Wesleyan in the NCAA Atlantic Regional to punch their ticket to the final 16.

The program is led by MEC coach of the year Alec Foote. They also have both Vicente Garcia and Nils Pottbecker who landed on the All-MEC First Team, and Elias Lagger and Marcelo Pinto who landed on the All-MEC Second Team.

The winner of Wednesday's contest will move into the quarterfinals to face off with the winner between No. 5 seed Catawba and No. 12 seed Biola.
