UT Tyler men's soccer enters its next match with a 2-0-2 record after opening the season with four strong performances, including a 3-0 victory over Colorado School of Mines and a 2-2 draw against Colorado Christian. The Patriots have scored eight goals through four matches while allowing just four.
Against Colorado School of Mines, UT Tyler jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead and continued to control the match throughout the second half. Landon Neely opened the scoring in the 28th minute with his first goal of the season before Azael Ochoa doubled the advantage just five minutes later. Jaime Casado added a penalty kick in the 87th minute to cap the scoring and give the Patriots the 3-0 victory.
The win was a milestone for head coach Kenny Jones, who picked up his 250th career victory. Jones, the only head coach in program history, is in his 25th season leading the Patriots and owns a 250-110-65 (.665) record at UT Tyler.
UT Tyler followed the victory with a 2-2 draw against Colorado Christian. After falling behind 2-0 in the opening 22 minutes, the Patriots responded with goals from Jamie Joyce in the 39th minute and Bryan Garcia Valle in the 85th minute to earn the draw. UT Tyler controlled much of the match, holding advantages in shots (15-9), shots on goal (7-4) and corner kicks (10-2).

- UT Tyler posted an 8-8-3 overall record last season, advancing to the Lone Star Conference Championship Semifinals. At season's end, Luan Rangel earned D2CCA Second Team All-South Central Region and All-Lone Star Conference Second Team honors. William Kenne and Jaxson Stovall were named to the Lone Star Conference All-Tournament Team, while Sid Cleofe, Niko Vasileiou, Luan Rangel, Hugo Marques, William Kenne and Oscar Sosa earned CSC Academic All-District honors. Cleofe was also named to the Lone Star Conference Academic Team, while Niclas Becker earned Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Week honors on Oct. 27.
- Noe Coutiño returns for the Patriots after playing in 19 matches last season, logging 1,165 minutes while scoring four goals and adding two assists. He recorded a .429 shots-on-goal percentage.
- Head coach Kenny Jones is in his 25th season at the helm of the program. Jones, the only head coach in program history, is 250-110-65 (.665) in his tenure at UT Tyler and earned his 250th career victory against Colorado School of Mines.
Simon Fraser
Simon Fraser is 1-1-2 to start the 2026 season after opening the year with a 0-2 loss to Westmont before earning a 2-1 win over Chico State and consecutive 1-1 draws against Stanislaus State and No. 4 Colorado State University Colorado Springs. The Red Leafs finished last season 6-9-3 overall and 5-4-1 in GNAC play. Through four matches this season, Simon Fraser has scored four goals while conceding five, averaging 11.5 shots per match and putting 43.5 percent of its attempts on target. Since the series began last season, UT Tyler holds a 1-0 advantage over Simon Fraser.
Western Oregon
Western Oregon enters the week with a 2-1-3 overall record after opening the season with a 3-2 win over Metropolitan State University of Denver, a 3-3 draw against Westminster and a 1-2 loss to Cal Poly Pomona. The Wolves also earned draws against Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal Poly Humboldt before closing the weekend with a 3-0 win over Chaminade. Western Oregon finished last season 11-5-4 overall and 6-2-2 in GNAC play. Through six matches this season, the Wolves have scored 13 goals while allowing 10, averaging 13.7 shots per match and putting 46.3 percent of their attempts on target. This will be the first meeting between UT Tyler and Western Oregon.
