TYLER, TEXAS – UT Tyler continued action at the Tyler Invite Friday, advancing two Patriots to singles finals and one doubles team to a championship match following another strong day of competition.

In women's singles, Yona Bancarel continued her run in Flight 1, earning a 7-5, 7-6 victory in the semifinals to advance to Saturday's championship match at 8 a.m. Hailey Zhang also reached the singles final in Flight 3, posting a 6-2, 7-5 semifinal victory to earn her spot in Saturday's 8 a.m. final.

The women's doubles teams also produced several strong performances. Paula Castellanos and Carla Rodier opened Flight 2 with a 9-7 victory over Ouachita Baptist before earning an 8-3 win in the semifinals to advance to Saturday's championship match at 11:30 a.m. Sabrina Pugh and Luisa Moraes also advanced to the East Semifinals before falling.

In Flight 1, Yona Bancarel and Maria Antonio Ortega won 8-2 to reach the semifinals before falling 8-5.

On the men's side, Trevor Short and Samuel Antwi opened Flight 1 doubles with an 8-6 victory over Mississippi College to advance to the semifinals, before dropping the semifinals match.

The Tyler Invite concludes Saturday with UT Tyler competing in two singles finals and the women's Flight 2 doubles championship match.
