Ellis spent one season as a graduate assistant with the ACU men's basketball team in 2025-26. He assisted in operations, player development, and film. He had a huge role in the development of the WAC Defensive Player of the Year(Rich Smith) & First Team All Conference selection Bradyn Hubbard.

Ellis spent the 2024-25 season as a varsity assistant to Josh Austin, and head junior varsity coach at Williams Baptist University, an NAIA school in Walnut Ridge, Ark. Ellis recruited AMC Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, & NAIA All-American Deion Wesson while at WBU. He also signed 3 other All-Conference selections. Williams Baptist went from 4-20 in ‘24/25 to 22-6 in ‘25/26 - most wins in single season.

Ellis began his career in college basketball as a student-assistant for Jimmy Elgas at NCAA Division II member Henderson State from 2021-24.  During his time with the Reddies, he assisted in breaking down game film, recruiting, and player development.

Ellis founded & coached Central Arkansas Elite Junior High teams from 2022-24, and trained over 150 high school athletes in the Central Arkansas area.

Ellis also helped train athletes at various basketball camps, including Nike camps in Little Rock and Fayetteville, and NextGen Sports Camps with Anthony Black and the Orlando Magic.

Ellis has led player development for 9 overseas professionals, 7 of which are still currently playing.

Ellis, a Glen Rose, Ark. native, graduated from Henderson State  with a bachelor's degree in integrated studies specializing in health and physical education.
