DALLAS, Texas - The UT Tyler Men's Basketball team defeated Dallas Christian on the road 93-66, improving to 7-10 overall.
The Patriots found themselves in a tight battle through the early stages of Saturday's game as the teams played to a deadlock (20-20) after 12 minutes of play. The Patriots would use the next three minutes of play to push their lead to 10 points before putting some distance between themselves and Dallas Christian late in the first half. The final five minutes of play saw the Patriots take a 15-10 advantage, taking a 49-34 lead into the half.
UT Tyler opened a 20 point lead in the first four minutes of the second half. The Patriots would hold their 20 point lead throughout the entire half. At the largest margin, UT Tyler led Dallas Christian by 30 points. A late three from Dallas Christian cut the lead to 27 as UT Tyler picked up their seventh win of the season.
BY THE NUMBERS:
UT Tyler shot 55.7% from the field and connected on 12 shots from behind the arc. The Patriots scored 44 points in the paint and went 13-18 at the free throw line. The UT Tyler bench contributed 16 points while team forced 12 turnovers.
UT TYLER LEADERS:
Darius Alford led the way for UT Tyler, scoring 31 points, recording four rebounds.
Chris Craig scored 20 points while
Omar Mohamed was the third Patriot to score in double figures, adding 10 points.
Tyrick Bennett hauled in a team high 13 rebounds.
The Patriots return to action on Monday, January 21 when they play Ozarks in Arkansas.
