Women's Basketball Gets Back on the Court on Sunday Afternoon at Texas A&M International

UT Tyler has won both meetings against Texas A&M International all-time and will look to use that positive history to find a win on Sunday afternoon

TYLER, TEXAS – The University of Texas at Tyler women's basketball team will return to the court after three straight postponed games on Sunday afternoon at Texas A&M International.

That contest is scheduled to take place at noon on Sunday and will give the Patriots a chance to generate some momentum heading into the last four games of the season following Sunday's meeting with Texas A&M International. UT Tyler last played on Feb. 6 in Lawton, Okla. against Cameron in a 74-41 loss and have had plenty of time to get healthy throughout the last few weeks of practice.

UT Tyler was scheduled to take on UAFS on Feb. 12 and Feb. 13 inside the Herrington Patriot Center prior to the games being cancelled due to COVID-19 protocols. Tuesday's previously scheduled contest was cancelled against Texas A&M International due to inclement winter weather in the area.

NEW ADDITIONS

The ever-changing 2020-21 schedule for the Patriots saw yet another addition of games this week as the Patriots have added a pair of home games against Western New Mexico on Mar. 2 and Mar. 3. The Mustangs have competed in an independent schedule this spring as COVID-19 protocols in the state of New Mexico did not allow the team to participate in the regular Lone Star Conference schedule.

The Mustangs are 1-3 this season and have had their own set of scheduling issues dictate the majority of their ability to compete this spring.

SCOUTING THE DUSTDEVILS

The Dustdevils returned to action on Feb. 13 after five straight games were postponed leading up to a 65-61 loss at Texas Woman's. Texas A&M International enters Sunday afternoon's meeting with the Patriots with an 8-4 record and a 6-4 mark in Lone Star Conference play. The Dustdevils sit atop the South Division standings with a perfect 4-0 mark in divisional play so far this year.

Texas A&M International is led by a pair of seniors in Patrycja Jaworska (15.0 ppg) and Nicole Heyn (13.0), who are the two Dustdevils averaging double-digit points. Heyn ranks third in the Lone Star Conference with an average of 9.0 rebounds per contest.

HISTORY WITH THE DUSTDEVILS

The Patriots have won both meetings against Texas A&M International, with the most recent win coming in an 86-79 overtime win on Jan. 11, 2020. That 87-point total for the Patriots in that win was the highest point total for UT Tyler in Lone Star Conference play last season.

The other win against the Dustdevils took place on Nov. 22, 2010 in an 87-86 win for the Patriots.

PATRIOT LEADERS

Azaria Reed and Kelsey Crouse have appeared in just seven games for the Patriots this season, but have made their presence known during those contests. Reed leads the team with an average of 8.6 points per game while Crouse ranks second on the team with 8.0 points per contest.

Crouse is also the team's leading rebounder with an average of 5.3 boards per game.
