Patriots Battle for Postseason Positioning on Senior Day Tomorrow Afternoon

Tomorrow's senior day game against Oklahoma Christian will finalize the seeding for UT Tyler in the 2021 LSC Championship Tournament

TYLER, TEXAS – UT Tyler women's soccer will celebrate their annual Senior Day tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. prior to the final regular-season contest of the 2021 spring schedule against Oklahoma Christian.

The Patriot women's soccer program will honor the accomplishments of four seniors in Shaylee Anaya, Maya Dossing, Danielle Lacasse and Maren Moore, prior to kicking off a crucial regular-season finale for both sides. Both UT Tyler and Oklahoma Christian will be attempting to avoid a first-round meeting with no. 1 nationally-ranked DBU in the opening round of the Spring 2021 Women's Soccer Lone Star Conference Championship with a win.

A win for UT Tyler would push them ahead of the Eagles in the divisional standings, setting up a probable meeting with West Texas A&M for the Patriots in the first round of the tournament scheduled to take place on the campuses of host sites on Apr. 3.

RALLY TIME

An abbreviated spring schedule in 2021 presents a unique opportunity for UT Tyler women's soccer as all 13 of the Lone Star Conference teams automatically qualify for the LSC Women's Soccer Championship. The Patriots have shown glimpses at different parts of the spring schedule of being a contender amongst the top of the conference ranks, and will look to build off of a strong defensive showing last weekend against a Texas Woman's side that ranks third in the Patriot's division with nine divisional points.

UT Tyler limited the Pioneers to just four shots on goal prior to the golden goal in the 99th minute that ended the contest in favor of Texas Woman's by a 1-0 final tally. The Patriots kept a Pioneer offense in check for over 95 minutes of action and will need similar defensive outings if they hope to make some noise beginning in the regular-season finale against Oklahoma Christian and into the first few rounds of the Lone Star Conference Championship tournament.

LOOKING AT THE TOURNAMENT

UT Tyler will meet either #1 DBU or West Texas A&M in the first round of that LSC Women's Soccer Championship tournament on Apr. 3 barring the results of Wednesday's meeting with Oklahoma Christian. That match against either foe will take place in either Dallas or Canyon, Texas on the campus of the respective opponent for UT Tyler.

Quarterfinal matches will then take place at that same site on Apr. 6, followed by semifinal matches on Apr. 10 and the championship match on Apr. 13.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES

Oklahoma Christian shocked the Lone Star Conference and the nation in their most recent outing, battling to a 2-2 draw against #1 Dallas Baptist last Wednesday. The Eagles scored a pair of goals against Dallas Baptist, the first time all season the Patriots have conceded multiple goals to a single opponent. The Eagles haven't lost in their last three matches, posting a 1-0-2 record over that stretch of play and have scored five goals in those contests.

Natalie Thomas leads the Eagles with three goals on the year on just three shot on goal attempts.
