THE BEST WIN YET

Senior Samaris Alvarado scored the game winner and the UT Tyler defense played well yet again in a 1-0 win over a previously-undefeated Lubbock Christian side on Saturday afternoon for unarguably one of the team's best wins of the 2022 season. Alvarado's seventh goal of 2022 in the 23rd minute of play was more than enough to compliment a UT Tyler defensive effort that stifled the previously-undefeated Lubbock Christian side for a vital three points in Lone Star Conference play. Alvarado put away a cross from junior Sydnee Garner that was set-up via a pass from defender Kylie Criner to put the Patriots ahead 1-0 midway through the first half. The Patriots then leaned on a clean sheet from senior Camri Cecil, who was one of 10 seniors recognized prior to kick as part of the class of 2022 for the program, that featured a pair of saves against a dangerous Lubbock Christian attack. The win earned the Patriot's three points towards the Lone Star Conference standings, vaulting the team into the magic seventh position of the league standings as seven teams will earn a spot in the 2022 Lone Star Conference Women's Soccer Championship on Nov. 1-6.

WHAT COACH WEBB IS SAYING

On the team's two great outings in the previous two matches...
"I thought we played really well at West Texas A&M. We had the lead twice, scored some great goals, but we were playing at West Texas A&M and we just didn't finish the game. Mentally you can't take a break in this conference and we had a mental lapse twice, but all-in-all we had a really good performance. On Saturday, Lubbock Christian is a really good team, and I thought it was a really good battle between the two of us and we stayed mentally tough the entire game. We had the competitive mentality all the way through it and got the win."

On what it's going to take down the stretch to stay in the conference tournament race... "First of all you have to know what you're up against, and we're going to play some really good teams every game. We've got to be mentally tough to finish this out and just have the mentality that we're good enough. I think that's let us down in the past where a team has done something really well and it's affected our mentality and we can't have that. We have to go after games and play to win at this point in the season and whatever happens, happens. We can't play not to lose at this point and go after every game."

On the preparation and what to expect against a tough Texas Woman's side... "We trained Monday morning at 6 a.m. and it's probably the best mentality we've had all year. We know what's ahead of us and there is no secrets. We have to make sure every single moment that we're getting better and focused on how we're going to win these games. We know what we have to do to be victorious at the end of the day and we have to just attack it."

THE MATCH UP

Texas Woman's is 1-7-4 so far in 2022, and 1-3-3 in Lone Star Conference play. The Pioneers will be coming off of arguably their best result of 2022 on Wednesday night after a 0-0 tie against West Texas A&M on Saturday afternoon. Texas Woman's has surrendered one or less goals in six out of their seven Lone Star Conference matches despite securing just a single win. Surprisingly, Texas Woman's would overtake UT Tyler with a victory on Wednesday night in the LSC standings as the Pioneers have totaled six points with the win and three ties in conference play. The Pioneers have scored just four goal in 2022, all four of which have come off of the foot of a different player. UT Tyler has never defeated Texas Woman's in the three meetings between the two sides, all three of which have been decided by just a single goal.

JUMPING INTO THE NO. 7 SPOT

After battling then-ranked #10 West Texas A&M all the way down to the wire last Saturday before falling by a 3-2 final, UT Tyler flipped a one-goal decision in their favor and earned their eighth point in Lone Star Conference play on Saturday. That eighth point was vital as the Patriots leaped into the seventh spot in the current LSC standings heading into Wednesday night's match at Texas Woman's. Another three points could vault UT Tyler as high as no. 4 in the standings, as West Texas A&M, Lubbock Christian and St. Mary's all stand just ahead of the Patriots with 11 points.

A SPARKLING HOME RECORD

UT Tyler women's soccer is now 7-0-1 on the year on their home pitch at the Citizen's 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex following the win over Lubbock Christian. NEED SOME PRODUCTION ON THE ROAD

On the flip side of the coin, UT Tyler will be searching for their first win of 2022 on the road on Wednesday night. The Patriots have played just three games away from their home pitch, and have accumulated a 0-2-1 record away from their home field. UT Tyler has been outscored 4-to-2 in those road contests, and have been outshot 39-to-35. Wednesday night will be a golden opportunity for UT Tyler to balance their home against away production in 2022.

COACH WEBB

Head coach Stefani Webb is in her 18th season as head coach of the Patriots and has accumulated a 198-88-22 overall record along the way. Webb led the Patriots to 10 or more wins in every season during the Division III era of the program from 2005-2018, culminating in NCAA Division III National Tournament bids in both 2014 and 2015. Webb holds a career record of 288-134-29 after serving eight seasons as the head coach at the University of Dallas from 1997-2004.

THE BEST START IN PROGRAM HISTORY

The UT Tyler women's soccer team began the season with a 5-0 record for the first time in the 22 years of the program, and completed their non-conference schedule with an undefeated record. The Patriots outscored their non-conference competition by a 19-to-4 margin. UT Tyler completed the 2015 season with an undefeated regular season record, but tied in the fourth game of the season, officially making the 2022 start to the season the best in program history.
