A WILD ONE ON WEDNESDAY
Wednesday's midweek contest against #18 Midwestern State provided a stern test for UT Tyler, and the game turned on its side over the final five minutes of action. After a goal early in the second half from the Mustangs, they pounced again in the 87
th minute to create a 2-0 gap. The Patriots would answer just a couple of minutes later, as
Brajdi Cekrezi cashed in a set piece goal to cut the deficit in half. On the ensuing kickoff, the Patriots would steal the ball back for a final chance. A shot was launched from deep by
Todd Fuller, but was just deflected over the bar and the Mustangs escaped with a 2-1 win.
AROUND THE LONE STAR CONFERENCE
St. Mary's continues to hold the top spot in the Lone Star Conference standings despite their draw on Wednesday night to drop them to 3-0-1. DBU comes in at 3-1, and Oklahoma Christian and Lubbock Christian are tied at 2-1-1. West Texas A&M rounds out the top five at 1-0-3.
Wednesday's action saw Lubbock Christian come away with a 3-0 win over Eastern New Mexico. Oklahoma Christian and Texas A&M International played to a 0-0 draw, and West Texas A&M and St. Mary's also played to a 0-0 draw. DBU took down UT Permian Basin 3-1, and the Mustangs took down UT Tyler 2-1.

The Patriots and the Chaps have met four times over their program's histories, and all four of those meeting have come since 2019. Lubbock Christian leads the series 4-0 and hold a 2-0 advantage in Lubbock. Last season saw the Chaps come to Tyler on October 23 and come away with a 4-0 victory. In the last meeting in Lubbock, the Chaps were able to barely escape with a 2-1 victory after a game winning goal in the 76
th minute.

Cone holds a career record of 33-37-8 over his five seasons as a head coach.
NEXT ON THE SLATE
Following the weekend clash with Lubbock Christian, the Patriots will return back to Citizens 1
st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex for a battle with the newly revived program of Eastern New Mexico. The program had previously been discontinued following the 2020-2021 academic year, but was revived prior to the 2022 season.
That contest is scheduled for Wednesday, October 19
th at 7 p.m. and will be a part of the Pink Week celebration for UT Tyler athletics.
