ANOTHER WELL-EARNED RESULT

The UT Tyler women's soccer team picked up a point towards the Lone Star Conference standings on Wednesday night with a 1-1 tie on the road at Texas Woman's. Senior Jordan Colbert converted a penalty kick goal in the 16th minute to provide the scoring for the Patriots on a night in which UT Tyler outshot Texas Woman's by a 15-to-7 margin. The Pioneers netted the equalizer in the 66th minute on a Bri Luna goal to bring the match to it's eventual 1-1 final tally. The Patriots took advantage on a Pioneer foul in the box off of a UT Tyler free kick in which senior Kaycee West was taken down on an attempted header. Colbert buried the penalty kick into the back of the net for her second goal of the 2022 season. UT Tyler now sits a point out of the magic seventh spot in the LSC standings with nine points in league play as seven teams will qualify for the 2022 LSC Women's Soccer Championship at season's end.

WHAT COACH WEBB IS SAYING

On what it's going to take down the stretch to stay in the conference tournament race... "First of all you have to know what you're up against, and we're going to play some really good teams every game. We've got to be mentally tough to finish this out and just have the mentality that we're good enough. I think that's let us down in the past where a team has done something really well and it's affected our mentality and we can't have that. We have to go after games and play to win at this point in the season and whatever happens, happens. We can't play not to lose at this point and go after every game."

THE MATCH UP

Angelo State will enter Saturday's match in second place in the Lone Star Conference standings with 18 points and a record of 6-2 in league play. The Rambelles have compiled a record of 11-2-1 on the year and are receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25 Poll. Angelo State holds an 11-to-3 goal differential in LSC play, and have surrendered the least amount of goals in conference play with three. Grace Jordan leads the Rambelles with seven goals on the year. Senior keeper Kira Miller is one of the league's best, having posted a league best .917 save percentage in conference play. Angelo State will be making the program's first ever trip to Tyler on Saturday afternoon, having defeated UT Tyler in each of the previous two meetings in San Angelo during the 2021 and 2019 seasons.

A SPARKLING HOME RECORD

UT Tyler women's soccer is now 7-0-1 on the year on their home pitch at the Citizen's 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex following the win over Lubbock Christian. The Patriots have outscored opponents 22-to-5 on their home field, and have outshot their opposition by a 170-to-53 margin as well. Alvarado has scored all seven of her goals at home.

EVERY POINT MATTERS

UT Tyler has just five games remaining on the 2022 regular season schedule ahead of the 2022 LSC Postseason Tournament scheduled for Nov. 1-6. The top seven teams in the LSC standings at season's end will qualify for the tournament. The Patriots currently sit in eighth place in the league standings with nine conference points, one point shy of seventh place UT Permian Basin. The standings are jam packed around the magic seventh spot, with five teams within three points of UT Permian Basin heading into Saturday's match.
