LAST TIME OUT
UT Tyler took on #6 St. Mary's on Wednesday evening and gave them all they could handle. The Patriots played one of their best games of the season and was able to scratch out a 1-1 draw. A stunning free kick goal from
Zach Panagiotou on a sharp angle put the Patriots up 1-0 in the first half, but an answer from the Rattlers on a series of deflections in the box knotted up the score. The Patriots would take several more shots, including a trio of big opportunites with less than 20 minutes to go, but none would find the net.
A NARROW MISS
UT Tyler's tie on Wednesday initially kept them in line for a potential LSC Tournament position, but results later on in the evening would spell the end for their tournament hopes. Big wins from Midwestern State and Oklahoma Christian gave both sides a critical three points, and moved both outside of striking distance for UT Tyler.
THE ROLE OF SPOILER?
Saturday night's Patriots on Patriots matchup sees DBU make their first trip to Tyler, Texas since September 15, 2021. DBU currently holds on to the number two seed in the LSC Tournament and that would currently allow for a first round bye. They hold a two point advantage over West Texas A&M and Lubbock Christian, and any loss or tie could put DBU in jeopardy of losing that number two seed.
SERIES HISTORY
The all Patriots series has gone the way of UT Tyler over the nine total meetings between the two teams. UT Tyler holds a 6-3 advantage and has claimed the last four games including a dominant 5-1 victory on September 3
rd of this season.
Historically, this game has been a huge game for both sides, as the last two seasons' conference matches have seen both teams needing a win to secure an LSC Tournament spot. Each of those matches saw UT Tyler come away with a big goal late in the game and into overtime to claim one goal advantages and earn the last playoff spot into the tournament.
SCOUTING DBU
DBU sits at 6-6-4 on the season and holds a strong 5-3 conference record. On Wednesday night, DBU made a big jump thanks to a 3-0 victory over Lubbock Christian for a critical three points.

Ethan Unger leads for the Patriots in assists, totaling six in 16 games this season. That is the second most in the LSC this season, and Unger has also chipped in four goals.
Jess Jobe leads DBU and is in his second season. Previous to DBU, Jobe served three years as the co-head coach for the women's soccer team at Northwestern State. Jobe also served as an assistant coach for the DBU women's soccer program from 2011-2017.
