TYLER, TEXAS – The UT Tyler women's golf team moved into the no. 12 spot in the latest 2022 NCAA Division II West Region rankings as announced on Thursday afternoon.
This week's rankings are the final edition of the rankings prior to the announcement of the 2022 NCAA Division II West Regional Championships field on April 25
th. The top 12 ranked teams and six individuals not on those teams based on the recommendation of the regional advisory committee will be invited to compete in the West regional tournament on May 2-4 at Brookside Country Club in Stockton, Calif.
The Patriots currently sit ahead of Arkansas-Fort Smith (no. 13) and Cal State LA (no. 14), and sit just behind Colorado Christian (no. 11) and Cal State East Bay (no. 10) on what could ultimately be the cutline for teams invited into the field. UT Tyler will have a chance to add more head-to-head victories against Lone Star Conference foes at next week's 2022 Lone Star Conference Women's Golf Championships in the final resume builder for the Patriots prior to regional selections.
DBU and West Texas A&M sit in the no. 1 and no. 2 spots respectively, while Cal State San Marcos (no. 3), Texas A&M International (no. 4) and Biola (no. 5) round out the top five.
UT Tyler has posted a 304.92 team scoring average in 2022, the best team scoring average in the 19-year history of the program. The Patriots have defeated 32 of their 43 West region opponents this season, and have finished within the top five of the team leaderboard in six of their 10 events.
The Patriots will tee it up in the 2022 Lone Star Conference Women's Golf Championships next week on April 21-23 at Squaw Valley Golf Course in Glen Rose, Texas.
