The Eagles finished last season with a 10-7-1 overall record and a 6-5-1 mark in the Red River Athletic Conference of the NAIA. WHAT COACH WEBB IS SAYING

On the impact 2021 will have on this season...
"Last year was a year you never want to have as a coach. Through injuries and COVID, we lost a couple of overtime games, it was one of those years where just nothing went our way. But honestly I think the resilience that we built through that experience was one of the best things that we have gone through. Right now the way the team is playing, their mentality, they just want to grind and they know they were so close last year that they came back this year ready to go."

On the young talent returning to the pitch in 2022... "All of our significant injuries last year were to our older players, and so our younger players for the last two years have really had to carry us. They've got some great game experience in some really tight games against some good opponents, so we have added some good older transfers, but our youth is still going to be incredible this year."

On the returning senior class and what this year means to them... "They want to win. They've been through it all and this is probably the most fit group that I've ever had. They came back ready to prove themselves. Last year they were obviously unhappy like the rest of us were at the results, we're at UT Tyler and the standard is to win, and so going through a year like we went through last year has made them set the tone for the younger players."

ANOTHER FAST START

UT Tyler will begin 2022 with a string of five straight home games at Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex beginning on Thursday night, and will be looking to replicate the same solid start that the program executed last season. The 2021 Patriots began the year with consecutive shutout wins against Harding and Louisiana State-Alexandria, and then secured their first LSC win of the season a few weeks later to begin the season with a 3-1 record. This year's squad will have a golden opportunity to once against get off to a fast start with the five scheduled home games over the course of the first three weeks of the regular season.

YOUTH MOVEMENT

Much of the story of the 2021 season for the UT Tyler women's soccer program revolved around the emergence of a wealth of talented underclassman that were thrust into the majority of the minutes last season after multiple injuries throughout the roster. That experience figures to bold well for that core of young Patriots in 2022, as 51 of the 58 points came from underclassman during the 2021 campaign. All three of the returning goal leaders were underclassman last season in Jordan Colbert, Faith Adje and Vanessa Bart, with Colbert leading the way with six goals scored and Adje as the shots leader with 37.

COACH WEBB

Head coach Stefani Webb will begin her 18th season as head coach of the UT Tyler women's soccer program on Thursday night, and has accumulated a 190-86-20 overall record along the way. Webb led the Patriots to 10 or more wins in every season during the Division III era of the program from 2005-2018, culminating in NCAA Division III National Tournament bids in both 2014 and 2015. Webb holds a career record of 280-132-27 after serving eight seasons as the head coach at the University of Dallas from 1997-2004.

ALL-CONFERENCE RETURNERS

Coach Webb will have the services of three individuals that will return to the pitch with All-Lone Star Conference accolades, and two additional student-athletes that were named All-Conference players in the American Southwest Conference in 2018. Adje will return to the squad in 2022 after being named to the 2021 All-LSC Third Team and All-LSC Freshman team last season. The Frisco, Texas native netted four goals during that season, and added a pair of assists to finish the year with 10 points. Graduate student Priscilla Rincon has returned to the 2022 roster as an All-LSC selection back in 2020's shortened spring campaign, and will look to return off of an injury that ended her season early in 2021. Rincon has appeared in 30 games over the course of the last three years for the Patriots. Senior Camri Cecil stands as the third returning Patriot with All-LSC accolades in her career, earning All-LSC honors back in 2019. Cecil has made 34 appearances in her UT Tyler career, collecting 164 saves over the span of those games. Those 164 saves ranks second all-time in the UT Tyler women's soccer record books behind Kristal Moncrief. Graduate students Landri Edwards and Kaycee West will also return to the pitch for the Patriots with All-Conference honors on their resumes as 2018 All-ASC selections in the first year of the NCAA Division II transition for the program.

PRESEASON RANKINGS

The UT Tyler women's soccer program received 171 points in the 2022 Lone Star Conference Women's Soccer Preseason Poll to appear as no. 9 in the poll. DBU will enter 2022 as the preseason favorites in the LSC, earning 434 total points and 24 first-place votes to come in at no. 1 ahead of Angelo State. Angelo State earned 388 total points and 10 first-place votes, while just five points separated no. 3 West Texas A&M (368) and no. 4 Midwestern State (363).
