A 0-0 BATTLE

The University of Texas at Tyler women's soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw in a defensive battle on Wednesday night against Texas A&M International. The Patriots picked up an ever-important point in Lone Star Conference play in a difficult midweek trip to Laredo behind a clean sheet from keeper Camri Cecil and a rock-solid outing by the UT Tyler defense. The Patriot offense generated the majority of their chances on corner kicks and set pieces, holding the corner kick advantage 6-to-1 over the Dustdevils. Moreira and junior Sydnee Garner led the Patriots with three shot attempts for the match, while senior Brooklyn Robinson applied the pressure on the Dustdevil keeper with a pair of shot attempts off of corner opportunities for the Patriots. The scoreless draw earns each side a point towards the LSC standings, and brings UT Tyler's record to 6-1-1 on the year.

WHAT COACH WEBB IS SAYING

On the ever-improving and now effective defensive output... "Our defense was phenomenal. Camri Cecil is playing really well for us in the net and giving us some confidence as we play forward. Our backline has really just connected and we're finally starting to see that the details really do matter. As a result our collective defending, not only our backline, but how we're defending as a group has been tremendous I've thought the last couple of games."

On the team's grade report so far in 2022... " I would say that we're around a B+ right now, but we're just getting started. We trained this morning and it was the best training we've had all year. Just the details that they're starting to see and put together is alot of fun. It's exciting to see where they're at and it's really exciting to see what their ceiling is. As long as they stay hungry about getting better everyday, this group could be really special."

PROMOTIONAL NIGHT

Saturday's match will serve as the annual Alumni Day for the UT Tyler women's soccer program. All alumni in attendance of the match will be asked to stand for recognition during halftime.
