STILL STREAKING
The Patriots took care of business last week yet again, going 2-0 against St. Edward's and St. Mary's to move their winning streak out to eight games and move to 8-0 in LSC play and 13-2 on the season. It was a tale of two different contests as UT Tyler took down the Hilltoppers by 18 points and played one of their most efficient games of the season. Against the Rattlers, it was the exact opposite, as the Patriots shot well below season averages and committed several uncharacteristic turnovers, but still came away with the close victory.
CLIMBING THE REGIONAL RANKS
This week saw the Patriots move up into a tie for fourth in the latest D2SIDA South Central Regional Rankings. That mark is the highest of the season for UT Tyler, and it also is the highest rank of the Division II era. UT Tyler is one of two undefeated Lone Star Conference teams, and one of three teams that has yet to drop a divisional contest.
BIGGEST ROAD TRIP YET?
The Patriots have played just four home games this season thanks to plenty of road contests in non-conference play, but the Patriots have responded well to the tough schedule. Currently the Patriots are 5-1 on the road, 4-1 in neutral site contests, and an undefeated 4-0 inside the Herrington Patriot Center.
This week's road trip will be one of the toughest yet, as it sees them take on Texas A&M International and Texas A&M-Kingsville in a pair of matches that will go a long way when it comes down to who will make the conference tournament. The Dustdevils will roll in at 11-5 to Thursday's contest, and have won six of their last seven. The Javelinas might be just 7-7, but have taken down West Texas A&M and Adams State, two teams that are ranked inside the D2SIDA South Central Region Rankings.
