WHAT COACH WEBB IS SAYING
On last weekend's 1-1 tie against West Texas A&M... "We were disappointed to not walk away with three points after the performance that we had for 80 minutes of the match. We saw what can happen when we put it all together, but we have to do that for 90 minutes against quality teams that we will play the rest of the year."
On the back-to-back weeks with just one match... "We were on the road for what felt like forever, so coming home for a week was really good for us to create a new rhythm. Training has been awesome and it's been good to see our growth throughout the last two weeks. We understand what is ahead of us for the rest of the regular season and feel good that we have some time to prepare."
On Lubbock Christian as an opponent... "Lubbock Christian always presents a good game for us. They are well coached and have a lot of talent. Being on the road adds another dimension as well. Focusing on keeping our level of play up for 90 minutes will be huge. We are looking forward to another challenge and looking forward to finding a way to win together."
LAST TIME OUT
The University of Texas at Tyler women's soccer team recorded a sixth straight tie on Saturday afternoon with a 1-1 result against West Texas A&M. The Patriots scored just over two minutes into the match, controlled the next 70 minutes of game time, and then conceded a West Texas A&M goal with 14 minutes remaining to notch a sixth point in Lone Star Conference play. UT Tyler out-shot West Texas A&M by a 13-to-7 margin in the match and a 9-to-3 difference in the second half, but managed to find the back of the net just once. That score just over two minutes into the contest came off the head of junior
Alyssa Palisi, who redirected a bouncing free-kick service from the foot of
Brooklyn Robinson into the back of the net. That goal at the 2:03 mark etched a 1-0 score that would hold for the next 70 minutes of action. West Texas A&M tied the contest in the 77
th minute on what was effectively their lone quality chance of the match. Junior
Sydnee Garner led both teams with four shots on the afternoon, while five different Patriots secured a shot on goal attempt.
