INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – #21 UT Tyler has been ranked sixth in the second edition of the NCAA Division II West Regional rankings as announced by the NCAA.
This week's rankings are the second of three editions of the rankings prior to the announcement of the 2023 NCAA Division II West Regional Championships field on May 1
st. The top 12 ranked teams and six individuals not on those teams based on the recommendation of the regional advisory committee will be invited to compete in the West regional tournament on May 8-10 at the Golf Club of Dallas in Dallas, Texas.
UT Tyler was one of eight representatives from the Lone Star Conference in this week's rankings, the first ranked announcement from the regional advisory committee after last week's release of the teams under consideration. DBU sits no. 1, while Oklahoma Christian is the only other LSC team ahead of the Patriots in the no. 5 spot.
UT Tyler has posted a 300.22 team scoring average in 2022-23, the best team scoring average in the 20-year history of the program. The Patriots hold a 51-28-6 record against West region opponents this season, and have finished within the top five of the team leaderboard in six out of their nine events.
The Patriots are currently competing in their final regular season event of the 2022-23 season at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic in Goodyear, Ariz.
