TYLER, TEXAS – The University of Texas at Tyler volleyball program earned a third straight USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award as announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
The award honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.10 or a 5.0 scale. UT Tyler is one of over 1,300 collegiate and high school teams honored with the award that dates back to 1992-93.
"I am so proud of the team for earning this award," Head coach
Lyndsay Mashe said. "They work hard to be successful on the court as well as in the classroom. It takes a lot of dedication to be a student-athlete and this team continues to put in the work."
The 2023 award is the third consecutive year in which the Patriots have garnered the team academic award from their national organization.
On the court, UT Tyler made their second straight appearance in the NCAA Division II National Tournament as quarterfinalists in the South Central Region. The Patriots went 20-10 on the year and 12-4 in Lone Star Conference play in 2022.
