WHAT COACH WEBB IS SAYING
On the atmosphere of the 2023 opener... "I thought the crowd was amazing, so thanks to everyone that came out. The student section was huge, probably the biggest one I've seen in a long time so we're grateful for the support."
On the team's performance on Monday night... "This is probably the most talented team we've had here with so much potential in this group, but how they all fit together I don't know yet. Monday was our first real game, we only had one scrimmage before this, so we're still trying to figure it out. The team is still trying to figure it out, we have a new model in how we want to play to be successful not only in this conference, but nationally. So we're trying a lot of things out at this point, you could see that in our play, it was a little disjointed here and there, but when they found the confidence in how we want to play I thought they were really, really good."
On the team's mindset heading into the rest of their non-conference schedule on the road... "As a coach it's your responsibility to prepare your team, so we're going to throw them into the pool and see what happens. We have to be road warriors, this conference is really hard to win at home, but it's even harder to win on the road, so we've got to figure out that mindset now. So we're going to go on the road this week against two quality opponents at tough places to play, on different surfaces than we're used to playing on, and kind of get rid of all the excuses and find a way to win. I think our game model is right, so now it's just a matter of dialing into our toughness."
