LAST TIME OUT
Â
Last weekend saw the first road trip of 2024 for UT Tyler, and they came away with a pair of strong victories over St. Edward's and St. Mary's. The Patriots won both of those games by double digits as
Ella Bradley and
Tina Machalova traded big days. Bradley dropped in 16 points against the Hilltoppers behind 6-for-7 shooting and a pair of triples while also snagging a pair of rebounds. Against the Rattlers,
Tina Machalova exploded for 21 points that included five three pointers and six rebounds as the Patriots won by an impressive 21 points.
Â
NATIONAL ATTENTION
Â
The Patriots remain in the Receiving Votes category of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Top 25, this marks the third consecutive week they have been associated with the poll and the fifth time this season they have been included. They are joined in the poll by LSC foes #14 Texas Woman's and #19 Texas A&M International and South Central Region foe Colorado School of Mines at #7.
Â
STILL STREAKING
Â
With the two wins over the weekend, the Patriots extended their winning streak to 13 games, the longest of the
Rebecca Alvidrez era and the Division II era for the program. You would have to go all the way back to the 2015-2016 season to find a longer winning streak for the program. That year, they won 22 consecutive games before falling in the NCAA Division III Elite Eight.
Â
The Patriots also have a huge home winning streak which stands at 22 straight games. That winning streak is tied for second most in all of NCAA Division II and only trails Catawba at 27 straight games. The last home defeat the Patriots suffered came all the way back on February 12, 2022 against #7 Texas A&M-Commerce.
