LAST TIME OUT

Last weekend, the Patriots saw their 16 game winning streak snapped on Saturday afternoon as West Texas A&M got the better of the Patriots on their way to a big win. However, on Thursday evening, the Patriots battled it out with Lubbock Christian for all 40 minutes as the teams were nearly dead even in several statistical categories. The lone difference was a Tina Machalova layup with just 1.9 seconds left on the clock, set up by a brilliant out of bounds play that saw Montse Gutierrez throw the perfect pass to Machalova and secure the win.

NATIONAL ATTENTION

Despite the 1-1 weekend, UT Tyler will hang around in the WBCA Top 25 Poll, slipping down to the Receiving Votes category yet again. The Patriots are joined in the poll by #10 Texas Woman's and (RV) Texas A&M International from the Lone Star Conference, and #9 Colorado School of Mines from the South Central Region.

LSC UPDATE

The Patriots still remain firmly in control of the top spot in the LSC, as they hold the tiebreaker over Texas Woman's with both teams being tied at 12-1. UT Permian Basin rolls in third in the current standings, while Lubbock Christian, Angelo State, and Texas A&M International are all separated by just half a game as we enter the back half of the schedule.

WHAT COACH ALVIDREZ IS SAYING

On the win over Lubbock Christian: "What a finish. That game felt like the Sweet 16 continued. It worked out perfectly and we kinda saw maybe an opening. Everyting lined up and the girls came together and then the pass and finish. It was a fun finish and it was great to finish off a game like that."

On the battle against West Texas A&M: "We started off pretty solid, but coming out after halftime we were a little too flat. Little disappointed, but winning 16 in a row is a lot to celebrate and a lot to be grateful for."

On closing out the road trip: "Prepare and be locked in. They're both well coached and they play hard and have good players. Every game is no different whoever we're playing, we have to be able to approach it and take care of business."
