INTO THE TOP 25
After a strong 2-0 start, the Patriots have vaulted themselves into the top 25 of the D2CCA Women's Basketball Poll, coming in at #22 in the Week 1 version of the poll. The Patriots are one of three LSC teams ranked this week, including #1 Texas Woman's and #12 Lubbock Christian.
WHAT COACH ALVIDREZ IS SAYING
On the opening weekend results: "There's a lot of unknowns, especially with the new additions. You get worried how the weekend will go, especially against two well coached teams that have given us issues in the past. I am proud that we were able to find a way to win and continue to work and get better chemistry. There's a lot of positives for sure."
On the defensive effort: "I really liked the effort. I thought there was some really good moments. We were able to try out some new things that we haven't done in the past. I'm proud of the effort and that we didn't die off even as we went to the bench. We still have a long way to go, but we can take it one step at a time."
On the newcomers playing against Dallas Christian: "This week is really positive to be able to correct what we need to correct. This weekend will be pretty important for us to start building and start clicking for how they should be playing. We're going to approach it like every other game, but it will give us an opportunity to work on our stuff, especially with the new players."
