TYLER, TEXAS – UT Tyler led for all 40 minutes in a convincing 75-48 win over Regis on Saturday afternoon.

The Patriots turned a 36-19 advantage at the halftime break to a lead of 33 at the 66-33 mark with 7:58 remaining in the game. Senior Nikolas Gustavson knocked down a Division II era record seven three pointers in the game, five of which came in the second half, to lead all scorers with 21 points.

Gustavson's seven three-point makes are the second most in a single game in program history and the most in the six years of Division II play for the program.

UT Tyler moves to 1-3 with the victory, having complete a stretch in which they opened the year with the top four selected teams in the 2024 RMAC Preseason Coaches Poll in Black Hills State, (RV) MSU Denver, #8 Colorado School of Mines and Regis.

The Patriots opened a 10-point lead less than five minutes into the game and led by as many as 22 at the 28-6 mark with 9:11 remaining in the first half. UT Tyler went 15-for-28 (53.6 percent) from the floor in the first half and limited Regis to just five made baskets.

UT Tyler didn't allow the margin to get down to less than 13 points in the final 10 minutes of the first half to take a 36-19 advantage into the halftime break.

The Patriots led by 20 or more points for the final 14:37 of the contest, maintaining at least a 30-point lead for over five minutes in the waning stages of the game.
