DALLAS, TEXAS – UT Tyler softball head coach
Mike Reed has been selected as a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association 2025 Hall of Fame Class as announced on Friday night at the NFCA's annual convention.

Mike Reed for being selected for induction into the NFCA Hall of Fame," Interim Athletic Director Chris Bizot said. "Coach Reed exemplifies what it means to be a champion on and off the field and is extremely deserving of this honor. We are extremely proud to have him as the head coach of our softball program."
Coach Reed is the one and only head coach in the history of the UT Tyler softball program and has turned the program into a powerhouse in his 20 seasons. All-time, Coach Reed is 919-182 across his 23 career seasons and is 814-151 in his time with the Patriots. His winning percentage of .835 is tied for the best mark all-time amongst coaches who have coached 10 years at an NCAA school.
Coach Reed and his staff have earned two ATEC/NFCA National Coach Staff of the Year awards, once in 2016 and another this past season in 2024 after securing the program's second national championship and UT Tyler's first national championship at the Division II level.
He and his staff also earned their fourth straight South Central Region Coaching Staff of the Year award in 2024, marking the 10
th time they have earned the regional staff of the year award presented by the NFCA.

"He has proven to be a winner in a first class way in both the NCAA DIII and NCAA DII ranks, having one national championships in both divisions. As the only softball coach in UT Tyler's history, Mike has proven to be a great hire and a winner both on and off the field. His relationship with the current players and the alumni is exemplary, as is his attention to detail and ability to find ways to win."
In his time with the Patriots, the program has earned 10 combined ASC Regular Season and ASC Tournament Championships, 4 straight LSC Regular Season Championships, 1 LSC Tournament Championship, 11 NCAA Division III Tournament appearances, 3 straight NCAA Division II Tournament Appearances, 1 NCAA Division III National Championship (2016), and 1 NCAA Division II National Championship (2024).
Coach Reed was also recognized earlier this year as a member of the 2024 class of the East Texas Baptist University Hall of Fame. There, he became a four year letterman for the Tigers baseball team before beginning a coaching career with East Texas Baptist. He coached the softball program to three straight American Southwest Conference Championships in his time there before taking the head coaching job at UT Tyler in 2003.
Reed will be a part of a four person class that includes Lu Harris-Champer, Judy Lawes, and Suzy Willemssen. They will each be inducted to the NFCA Hall of Fame as the Class of 2025 next year in Las Vegas on December 12.
