TYLER, TEXAS – Alec Zambie,
Ryan Zambie and
Nikolas Gustavson all led UT Tyler with 10 points in a 75-52 loss to UT Permian Basin on Thursday night.
A 21-18 ballgame with 8:02 remaining in the first half turned solely into the hands of UT Permian Basin after the Falcons closed the remaining eight minutes of the half on a 20-to-3 run. That 41-21 lead was quickly extended to 45-21 after UT Permian Basin rattled off nine unanswered points to start the second half.
UT Permian Basin made just two more baskets from the field than UT Tyler in the game, but went 10-for-29 (34.5 percent) from beyond the three-point line and 17-for-19 (89.5 percent) from the free-throw line. The Patriots on the otherhand made just two three-point baskets (2-for-15) and connected on just 6-for-11 from the free-throw line.
The Falcons extended their advantage out to as many as 36 with 11:04 remaining in the game at the 64-28 mark.
Gustavson went 4-for-6 from the field and made both UT Tyler three-point shots to join the Zambie brothers with 10 points.
Alec Zambie went 4-for-13 from the field and
Ryan Zambie 5-for-8.
Junior
Juan Pablo Camargo led the Patriots with six rebounds.
UT Tyler will return to floor inside the Herrington Patriot Center on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. against Angelo State.
