LAST TIME OUT

#5 UT Tyler used a six-run bottom of the second inning to cruise to an 8-2 victory over Eastern New Mexico on Sunday afternoon. Eastern New Mexico cut the 6-0 deficit to 6-2 with a pair of runs in the top of the third, but runs in the fifth and sixth for the Patriots allowed UT Tyler to stay in control for the entirety of the contest. The victory solidified a series victory for the Patriots and drew their record to 28-7 on the year and 19-5 in Lone Star Conference play. Graduate student Michelle Arias put the momentum solely into the hands of the Patriots with a three-run homer to get a big second inning for UT Tyler started. Classmate Courtney Plocheck put two more runs on the board with an RBI single with the bases loaded to make it 5-0, before an Audrey Escamilla single put the sixth and final run of the frame across a few batters later. Junior Kaylee Davis was credited with the win after taking over for starter Christin Haygood in the top of the fourth inning. Haygood ran into trouble and conceded a two-RBI single for the lone two runs of the day for the Greyhounds. Davis took over from that point, retiring the final batter in the fourth inning, and allowed just one hit throughout the remainder of her 4.1 innings of work to move to 9-0 on the year.

#5 UT Tyler came out on both ends of a pair of low-scoring ballgames against Eastern New Mexico with a 2-0 win and a 3-2 loss. Kaylee Davis and Christin Haygood combined to shutout the Greyhounds in game one and the UT Tyler offense did enough to come out ahead with RBI from Courtney Plocheck and Sam Schott. UT Tyler opened a 2-0 lead in the first three innings of game two, but three unanswered runs by Eastern New Mexico allowed the Greyhounds to even the series at 1-1. Haygood picked up the save in game one after coming on in relief of Davis and didn't allow an earned run in her second relief of the appearance to notch a ninth straight outing without conceding a run.
