LOUISVILLE, KY. - The UT Tyler softball program placed three representatives on the 2024 NFCA Division II South Central All-Region Team.
Genesis Armendariz was named as a First Team honoree and
Courtney Plocheck and
JT Smith as Second Team honorees.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's eight regions with first and second-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region nominated their student-athletes and voted for the teams. All the honorees are now eligible for selection to the 2024 NFCA Division II All-America squads.
The 2024 NFCA Division II All-America teams will be announced at the NCAA Division II World Series Championship Banquet.
All three Patriots add All-Region accolades to All-Lone Star Conference First Team honors. Plocheck earns a third NFCA All-Region nod while Smith and Armendariz both earn All-Region accolades for a second time.
Armendariz has led an elite UT Tyler pitching staff all season, posting a 15-5 record and an ERA of 1.93. That ERA ranks fourth in the Lone Star Conference and her 108 strikeouts on the year ranks seventh.
Plocheck leads UT Tyler with a .411 average at the plate, fifth best in the Lone Star Conference, and totaled the second highest hit total in the league with 78. The Deer Park, Texas native ranks second in the LSC in both RBI (54) and doubles (20) as well.
Smith filled up the stat sheet for the Patriots once again in her second year in a UT Tyler uniform, ranking second on the club with a .374 average at the plate. The Decatur, Texas native slugged .697 with 19 doubles, seven homers and five triples.
UT Tyler is set to meet St. Mary's in the 2024 NCAA South Central Regional Tournament on Thursday at 1 p.m.
