WHAT COACH WEBB IS SAYING
On last week's shutout victories over Ouachita Baptist and Harding... "5-0. That's a really good way to start. It's what we hoped for and what we wrote down on the board. Against Ouachita Baptist, we played really well. They gave us a bunch of different puzzles in terms of the way they tried to play against us tactically. I thought we did a really good job late in the first half solving that and then really came alive in the second half. And then Harding is just a really tough place to play. It's a really small field, there were only two referees instead of three, so that gave us another tactical puzzle to deal with. I honestly didn't think we handled it all as well as we probably should have, we made some decisions that are going to have to get alot cleaner. Other teams are going to try and do the same thing against us, they see the film, and so we're going to have to be better in that space for us to continue to do really well. But all-in-all really good performance on the weekend."
On the difference in this year's team heading into the start of Lone Star Conference play compared to previous year's teams... "It's our internal leadership. We have 12 seniors that are really leading well. It would be really easy for people's brains to go somewhere else right now, but our season really starts on Wednesday. Our leadership is really dialed into doing all the little things that have made us into what we are right now. Our leadership has really kept us focus on the right things and the main thing and that has already gone a long way."
On the start of Lone Star Conference play against St. Edward's and Midwestern State this week... "It's the start of conference play and everybody in the Lone Star Conference knows that means it's going to be tough. Two very different scouting reports for each team this week. St. Edward's is always going to be well-organized and very difficult to break down. They've got a really good defense this year and some scoring weapons that we will have to deal with. And then on the road on Saturday at Midwestern State is a tough one. They're playing really well right now, they had a difficult result in their last outing, but if you look at their games up to that point they've really been blowing people out. We're really going to have to be resilient and detail oriented against them."
LAST TIME OUT
UT Tyler completed non-conference play unbeaten and matched the best start to a season in program history with a 1-0 victory over Harding on Saturday morning. Graduate student
