WHAT COACH WEBB IS SAYING

On the excitement heading into opening weekend...
"We're starting a little late this year, so we are way amped up because we can go on tv and watch a lot of Division I and Division III women's soccer games right now. So we're ready for it."

On the keys to success this weekend... "Two great opponents that were very difficult on the road last year and we played through some adversity last year against both of these teams. We have a big group of seniors that have alot of experience and have endured alot over their years here, but we also have a big group of freshman and a little group stuck in the middle. We've had alot to sort out over the last couple of weeks and I love where we are at right now. The spirit is high and this team is really working. So it's been alot of fun and we're ready to get started."

PATRIOTS NEWS AND NOTES

- Thursday night's kick-off will start the 22nd season of women's soccer at UT Tyler. The program has amassed a 219-111-36 (.647) all-time record and will open play in their sixth season of competition at the NCAA Division II level this weekend. The Patriots are 23-36-16 (.413) over that timeframe and have produced a record of 11-31-14 in Lone Star Conference play.
- UT Tyler went 3-5-9 last season and finished 11th in the Lone Star Conference regular season standings with a record of 1-4-7 in league play. Sydnee Garner and Alexia Moreira were each named to the All-Lone Star Conference Third Team at season's end, while Brooke Mullins led the team in both points (8) and goals (4).
- Head coach Stefani Webb will enter her 20th season at the helm of the program and recently won the 200th game of her UT Tyler career last fall against St. Edward's on Oct. 31st. Coach Webb is 200-96-34 (.657) in her tenure as head coach of the Patriots and sits 290-142-41 (.656) in her 26-year head coaching career.
- The Patriots have seen the majority of their success come on their home field during the Division II level and sit 15-11-9 as a Division II program at Citizen's 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex. UT Tyler earned at least a result in all but one home match in 2023 with a 1-1-5 record and went 7-1-3 on their home pitch in 2022, making for an 8-2-8 record at home over the course of the last two seasons.
- Coach Webb's side has also enjoyed fast starts to the season in each of their last two campaigns, getting off to the best start in program history in 2022 with a 5-0 record and then earning results in each of their first three games last season, two of which came against Rogers State and East Central.
- The 2024 roster will be headlined by a wealth of experience for the Patriots, including Sydnee Garner, who has twice been named to the All-Lone Star Conference list and was a 2022 USC All-South Central Region selection. Another fellow 2022 USC All-South Central Region pick is set to return to the pitch for UT Tyler in Samaris Alvarado, who sat out last season due to an injury. Alvarado led the 2022 Patriots with 15 points and seven goals. Defensively, UT Tyler will bolster an experienced backline consisting of Brooklyn RobinsonNatalie Jones and Kylie Criner, as well as last year's primary starting keeper in Emily Clark.
- The University of Texas at Tyler women's soccer team has been tabbed as the no. 10 selection in the 2024 Lone Star Conference Women's Soccer Preseason Poll. The Patriots accumulated 216 total votes in the poll to appear tenth in the annual preseason poll, one slot behind Oklahoma Christian and a spot ahead of West Texas A&M. DBU received all but one first-place vote ahead of their quest to win a fifth straight regular season LSC Championship, while St. Mary's, Angelo State, Texas Woman's and Midwestern State rounded out the top five. The preseason poll and preseason players of the year are voted on by LSC head coaches, sports information directors and media members.

ABOUT ROGERS STATE

- Rogers State went 7-9-2 in 2023 and navigated a rigorous MIAA conference with a record of 4-7. The Hillcats were picked ninth in the MIAA Preseason Poll. Head coach Chris Jones enters his third season at the helm of the program and sports a 12-16-8 (.444) record.

ABOUT EAST CENTRAL

- East Central went 1-12-5 in 2023 and finished 1-6-5 in GAC play last season. Alyssa Taramona was named as the third head coach in program history this offseason and takes over after serving as an assistant with Texas Woman's University.
