TYLER, TEXAS – #8/9 UT Tyler Women's Basketball rolled over West Texas A&M on Saturday afternoon thanks to four players in double figures and 49% shooting from the floor to put together a 76-57 win.

Ella Bradley,
Polina Latysheva, and
Meagan Mendazona each scored in double figures on offense as they led a dominant Patriots offense that held an 18-8 advantage in fastbreak points, 36-24 advantage in points in the paint, and a 17-10 advantage in points off turnovers.
The Lady Buffs would open up the game on an 8-4 run over the first 3:40, but the Patriots quickly stormed back and ended the period on a dominant 18-5 run to lead 22-13 after one quarter. Hevinder got hot during the run, drilling two three pointers and adding in a layup while Mendazona scored six of her 13 total points.
The gap was closed to just five points with 8:43 remaining in the second frame and again with 6:19 remaining, but the Patriots both times answered with points in the paint to extend the lead. The Lady Buffs would go on a 5-0 run at the 2:25 mark to cut the lead down to just three and they cut it down to two with 56 seconds remaining, but a late bucket from
Polina Latysheva made it a 35-31 lead at the half.
The third quarter saw a 19-13 advantage by the Patriots, bookmarked by Hevinder and Bradley as they combined for 15 points during the run. That run saw the Patriots defense kick into high gear, as they held the Lady Buffs completely scoreless from the 8:15 mark to the 34 second mark of the quarter as they went 0-for-10 from the field and turned the ball over three times.
A 7-0 run that saw a pair of Hevinder layups and a
Mileina Sablinskaite three pointer opened the lead up to 17 points, and that lead extended all the way out to 21 points before a late jumper made it a 19 point margin. Latysheva caught fire in the final frame, scoring nine points as six different Patriots entered the scoring column on the way to securing the big win.
Lovisa Hevinder went 9-for-16 from the floor and buried four three pointers while adding eight rebounds, three assists, and one steal.
Ella Bradley scored 19 points on 8-for-14 shooting while posting six assists, five steals, and a block.
Polina Latysheva and
Meagan Mendazona each scored 13 points as Latysheva knocked down three triples and Mendazona added one of her own. Mendazona grabbed a team high nine rebounds and dished out six assists to go with one steal. Latysheva also added six rebounds and a steal.
UT Tyler will now focus on another pair of home contests as they welcome Cameron and Oklahoma Christian to the HPC next week.
