Box Score 2 ODESSA, TEXAS - #1 UT Tyler softball began their LSC campaign 2-0 and moved to 11-0 on the season after a dominant day in their doubleheader against UT Permian Basin on Friday afternoon.
GAME ONE
UT Tyler took game one of the afternoon behind a dominant offensive showcase, scoring 16 runs and allowing just two to UT Permian Basin.
After a scoreless first, the Patriots capitalized on multiple scoring opportunities in the second inning, starting with
Miia Campos tripling to left field, allowing
Berlyn Grossman to score. This was followed by
Sam Schott doubling to left center, driving in two more runs, and
Bailey Krolczyk scored on an error to make it 4-0.
In the third inning, the Falcons responded by scoring two runs, narrowing the lead to 4-2. However, the Patriots made up those two runs in the fourth inning with
JT Smith scoring on an error and
Abbie Behe driving in another run, making the score 6-2 and extending the lead back to four.
The fifth inning saw the Patriots further solidify their advantage.
Jordyn De Los Santos hit a solo home run to left center, followed by Krolczyk's single that drove in two more runs, bringing the score to 9-2. The seventh inning sealed the game with a seven-run surge, highlighted by Krolczyk's grand slam, resulting in a final score of 16-2 in favor of the Patriots.
B. Krolczyk led the Texas-Tyler team with an impressive offensive performance, driving in six runs on four hits, including a grand slam.
JT Smith scored four runs and stole a pair of bases, and
Sam Schott added two hits and drove in two runs.
Miia Campos added to the offensive output with a triple, two hits, and one RBI.
Primrose Aholelei pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowing no hits and one earned run while striking out three batters.
Kaylee Davis took over for 4 2/3 innings, also giving up no hits and striking out five batters on her way to picking up the win for the Patriots.
GAME TWO
Game two of the day saw the Patriots score eight more runs, moving their day's total to 26. They held the Falcons to just one run, ensuring a second dominant win on the day.
In the third inning, Texas-Tyler broke the scoreless tie with a double to left center by
Sam Schott, bringing
Angelique Rangel home to give the Patriots a 1-0 advantage. The fourth inning saw a significant offensive surge as the Patriots scored five runs in the frame.
Jordyn De Los Santos ripped a double for two RBIs, while Rangel and
JT Smith contributed with an RBI groundout and a two-run homer, respectively, extending the lead to 6-0.
During the fifth inning, the Patriots added another run as
Bailey Krolczyk scored on a single by De Los Santos, capitalizing on a defensive error to go ahead 7-0. The sixth inning saw the Patriots continue their momentum with an RBI single by Krolczyk as she continued her scorching day at the plate. This increased the lead to 8-0 before the Falcons scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the inning, making it an 8-1 game.
Texas-Tyler's pitching staff maintained control throughout the game, particularly in the final inning. Despite two hits from the Falcons, the inning ended with no additional runs scored, securing an 8-1 victory for the Patriots with a total of 12 hits and 6 left on base.
Jordyn De Los Santos led the Texas-Tyler offense with three RBIs, collecting two hits, including a double, while scoring once.
Bailey Krolczyk went 3-for-4 at the plate and added one RBI.
Ka'Lyn Watson showcased speed on the bases with two stolen bases and added two hits and one run.
Cera Blanchard pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing five hits and one run while striking out five batters to pick up the win in the contest.
Kaylee Davis closed out the contest by striking out the final batter of the game.The combined effort of Blanchard and Davis limited the Falcons to a total of five hits and no earned runs over seven innings.
The #1 ranked Patriots will be back in action on Sunday as they take on Sul Ross State for the first time as an LSC opponent.
