TYLER, TEXAS – UT Tyler softball head coach
Mike Reed has announced that Jason Miller will be joining his staff as an assistant coach.
Miller joins the Patriots after a successful run as an assistant coach at both Grayson College and Oklahoma Baptist. He spent nine seasons with the Vikings from 2015-2024 and then last season with the Bison.
"After years of knowing Jason through the recruitment of his players at the junior college level, I am thrilled to have him on staff," head coach
Mike Reed said. "Coach Miller is highly respected in the college coaching circle and his character and values will align perfectly within our university. His depth of knowledge and relentless work ethic will be a great compliment to the team. He has the ability to lead in many areas and we are all excited to get to work right away."
During his time at Oklahoma Baptist he helped lead the program into their first ever appearance in the GAC Championship game while going 36-17 on the season and 25-7 in conference play. The Bison finished second in the GAC and racked up three All-America selections and the GAC Player of the Year.
At Grayson College, Miller served as Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator, spurring a recruiting effort that saw the program go 104-24 over the last four seasons he was there. The program made two NJCAA World Series appearances, earned eight All-America nods, and picked up nearly 300 wins. Additionally, Miller was named the Easton/NFCA Assistant Coach of the Year in 2023 following the Vikings most recent world series run.
Prior to his time with Grayson College, Miller served in an Assistant Coach role at Western Oklahoma State and Bethany College, and also served as head coach at Ranger College in 2013-2014.
Miller has coached a total of 16 All-America selections, six Conference Pitcher/Player of the Year award winners, two National Player/Pitcher of the Year selections, and has twice been named to the NFCA Midwest Region Coaching Staff of the Year.
