LAST TIME OUT

UT Tyler women's soccer stayed perfect at 5-0 last week with a 1-0 win over UT Permian Basin on Wednesday and a 3-0 victory against Texas A&M International on Saturday. Junior Taylor Thibodeau scored her first goal of the season in the conference opener, while the Patriots had three different goal scorers in game two with Brooke Mullins who was assisted by Natalie Jones, Danica Anaya, and Ava Harris. The defense remained dominant with back-to-back shutouts, as senior Gabrielle Wiebe played all 180 minutes and junior Robbi Curry collected six saves on her way to being named Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Week.

PATS STATS

Through the first three weeks, Ella Anderson leads the Patriots with five points, tied for the team lead with two goals on 10 shots, four of which have been on target. She also holds the team lead in game-winning goals with two. Offensively, UT Tyler has produced 62 shots, putting 35 on frame for a 57 percent on-target rate. On the defensive side, Gabrielle Wiebe has been a reliable anchor with a team-high 450 minutes through the first five matches, while goalkeeper Robbi Curry has appeared in three games with two starts, recording eight saves and not conceding a goal.

PATRIOTS NEWS AND NOTES

- UT Tyler posted a 10-4-3 overall record last season, finishing ninth in the Lone Star Conference standings with a 5-4-3 mark in league play. At season's end, Brooke Mullins earned All-Lone Star Conference Third Team honors, while Natalie Jones led the Patriots in both points (20) and goals (7), securing a spot on the All-Lone Star Conference Second Team.
- Head coach Stefani Webb is in her 21st season at the helm of the program and recently won the 300th game of her career last fall against West Texas A&M on Oct. 26th. Coach Webb is 215-100-37 (.663) in her tenure as head coach of the Patriots and sits 305-146-44 (.661) in her 27-year head coaching career.
- The Patriots have seen the majority of their success come on their home field during the Division II level and sit 22-14-10 as a Division II program at Citizen's 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex. UT Tyler earned at least a result in all but three home matches in 2024 with a 7-3-1 record and went 1-1-5 on their home pitch in 2023, making for an 8-4-6 record at home over the course of the last two seasons.
- Coach Webb's squad has strung together strong starts in each of the last three seasons, including a tie for a program-best 5-0 opening in 2024. The Patriots have earned results in their first three matches of each of the past three campaigns, facing Rogers State and East Central in all three.
- The 2025 roster will be headlined by a wealth of experience for the Patriots, including Brooke Mullins, who has twice been named to the All-Lone Star Conference list and was the 2024 Lone Star Conference Academic Athlete of the Year for women's soccer. Another fellow 2024 All-Lone Star Conference pick is set to return to the pitch for UT Tyler in Natalie Jones, who was on the second team list for D2CCA All-South Central. Defensively, UT Tyler will flourish with experience with Gabrielle WiebeKatelyn Walerczykas well as returning Emily Clark who has been the primary keeper for the Patriots the past three years. In the midfield the Patriots will also bring back some more experience with Melissa OliveiraMarin Love, and Danica Anaya who all played key roles on last years team.
- The University of Texas at Tyler women's soccer team has been tabbed as the no. 9 selection in the 2025 Lone Star Conference Women's Soccer Preseason Poll. The Patriots accumulated 347 total votes in the poll to appear ninth in the annual preseason poll, one slot behind Oklahoma Christian and a spot ahead of West Texas A&M. DBU received 29 first-place votes ahead of their quest to win a sixth of the last seven regular season LSC Championship, while Angelo State (defending LSC regular season champion), Texas Woman's, Midwestern State and St. Mary's rounded out the top five. The preseason poll and preseason players of the year are voted on by LSC head coaches, sports information directors and media members.
 

ABOUT DBU

DBU is off to a strong 6-0 start, including five home wins that have helped the Patriots climb to a top 10 national ranking. They have outscored opponents 15-2 and picked up a marquee victory over ranked UC Colorado Springs. Last season, DBU posted a 16-3-3 overall record and went 10-1-2 in conference play, with their most recent meeting against UT Tyler ending in a 1-1 draw. Now in his fourth season, head coach Marcus Wood holds a 53-6-8 record, good for an .851 winning percentage. Through six matches, DBU has outshot opponents 104-38 with 44 percent of those shots on target. Since the series began in 2010, UT Tyler holds a 1-4-2 record against DBU.

ABOUT LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN

Lubbock Christian has opened the season 3-2-1, including a 2-1 mark at home. The Chaps finished 8-7-3 overall and 6-5-2 in conference play last year. Head coach Alistair Caldwell is in his second season leading the program, where he holds an 11-9-4 record. Through six matches this fall, LCU has outscored opponents 12-7 and holds a 90-68 advantage in shots, putting 51 percent of their attempts on target. Since the series began in 2019, UT Tyler is 1-4 against LCU.
