WHAT COACH WEBB IS SAYING

On the excitement heading into opening weekend...
"We have had a great preseason and playing some great soccer and connecting really well. We are excited to finally play against someone else and test ourselves to see where we need to grow."

On the keys to success this weekend... "This is a great weekend to go after it and really find our identity. Two tough games on the road and an amazing chance to start the season."

PATRIOTS NEWS AND NOTES

- Thursday night's kick-off will start the 23rd season of women's soccer at UT Tyler. The program has amassed a 229-115-39 (.649) all-time record and will open play in their seventh season of competition at the NCAA Division II level this weekend. The Patriots are 33-40-19 (.462) over that timeframe and have produced a record of 16-35-17 in Lone Star Conference play.
- UT Tyler posted a 10-4-3 overall record last season, finishing ninth in the Lone Star Conference standings with a 5-4-3 mark in league play. At season's end, Brooke Mullins earned All-Lone Star Conference Third Team honors, while Natalie Jones led the Patriots in both points (20) and goals (7), securing a spot on the All-Lone Star Conference Second Team.
- Head coach Stefani Webb will enter her 21st season at the helm of the program and recently won the 300th game of her career last fall against West Texas A&M on Oct. 26th. Coach Webb is 210-100-37 (.659) in her tenure as head coach of the Patriots and sits 300-146-44 (.657) in her 27-year head coaching career.
- The Patriots have seen the majority of their success come on their home field during the Division II level and sit 22-14-10 as a Division II program at Citizen's 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex. UT Tyler earned at least a result in all but three home matches in 2024 with a 7-3-1 record and went 1-1-5 on their home pitch in 2023, making for an 8-4-6 record at home over the course of the last two seasons.
- Coach Webb's squad has strung together strong starts in each of the last three seasons, including a tie for a program-best 5-0 opening in 2024. The Patriots have earned results in their first three matches of each of the past three campaigns, facing Rogers State and East Central in all three.
- The 2025 roster will be headlined by a wealth of experience for the Patriots, including Brooke Mullins, who has twice been named to the All-Lone Star Conference list and was the 2024 Lone Star Conference Academic Athlete of the Year for women's soccer. Another fellow 2024 All-Lone Star Conference pick is set to return to the pitch for UT Tyler in Natalie Jones, who was on the second team list for D2CCA All-South Central. Defensively, UT Tyler will flourish with experience with Gabrielle Wiebe, Katelyn Walerczyk, as well as returning Emily Clark who has been the primary keeper for the Patriots the past three years. In the midfield the Patriots will also bring back some more experience with Melissa Oliveira, Marin Love, and Danica Anaya who all played key roles on last years team.
- The University of Texas at Tyler women's soccer team has been tabbed as the no. 9 selection in the 2025 Lone Star Conference Women's Soccer Preseason Poll. The Patriots accumulated 347 total votes in the poll to appear ninth in the annual preseason poll, one slot behind Oklahoma Christian and a spot ahead of West Texas A&M. DBU received 29 first-place votes ahead of their quest to win a sixth of the last seven regular season LSC Championship, while Angelo State (defending LSC regular season champion), Texas Woman's, Midwestern State and St. Mary's rounded out the top five. The preseason poll and preseason players of the year are voted on by LSC head coaches, sports information directors and media members.

ABOUT ROGERS STATE

- Rogers State went 3-12-3 in 2024 and navigated a rigorous MIAA conference with a record of 2-7-3. The Hillcats were also picked 11th in the MIAA Preseason Poll. Head coach Chris Jones enters his fourth season at the helm of the program and sports a 15-28-11 (.379) record.

ABOUT EAST CENTRAL

- East Central went 5-10-3 overall and 4-5-3 in Great American Conference play in 2024. Last season marked the first year at the helm for head coach Alyssa Taramona, the third head coach in program history, who arrived after serving as an assistant at Texas Woman's University.
