GLOW OUT NIGHT
 
Tuesday night inside the HPC will be Glow Out Night for the Patriots. They will be giving away t-shirts and glow wrist bands prior to the game, and both games will feature halftime performances by the Spyros Bros.
 
The Spyros Bros are masters of the art of Diabolo (Chinese Yoyo). They have performed on America's Got Talent, NBA halftime shows, and NCAA halftime shows with their act of juggling, magic, dancing, and acrobatics.
 
ANOTHER TITANIC MATCHUP
 
Tuesday's contest marks the ninth straight matchup between UT Tyler and Texas Woman's that features at least one of the two teams ranked inside the WBCA Top 25 Coaches Poll. The last matchup between the two teams that didn't have one of the teams ranked was March 4th, 2022, where the Patriots took a 59-46 win over the Pioneers in the LSC Tournament.
 
The Pioneers have won the last two matchups, but the Patriots took a 60-50 win last year in the most recent matchup inside the HPC. That matchup featured the #20 Patriots taking down the #1 Pioneers, with Meagan Mendazona delivering 22 points to lead the team to the big win.
 
THE LSC RACE
 

Texas Woman's stands alone at the top of the latest LSC rankings at 16-0 after last week's games. West Texas A&M is second at 14-2, and UT Tyler is right behind at 13-3 and in solo third. Just four games remain in the conference season, and Lubbock Christian, Eastern New Mexico, Angelo State, UT Permian Basin, and Texas A&M International currently make up the LSC Tournament field.
 
PATRIOTS NOTES AND TRENDS
  • UT Tyler finished the 2024-25 season 25-5 overall and made their third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance before bowing out in the first round.
  • Last season the Patriots finished 13-1 on their home floor, raising their mark to 61-8 under head coach Rebecca Alvidrez inside the Herrington Patriot Center prior to the 2025-26 season.
  • In the last four seasons (including 2024-25), the Patriots are a combined 31-13 in non-conference matchups, including a 12-3 record at home in non-conference games.
  • Head Coach Rebecca Alvidrez is now 124-58 all time in her four season career, and she is 115-39 in her time at UT Tyler.
  • Coach Alvidrez won her 100th career game on January 30th, 2025 as the Patriots took down Cameron. It took just 148 games for Alvidrez to reach the milestone, and she is now in her fifth season as a head coach.
  • Alvidrez won her 100th game at UT Tyler on November 14th, 2025 as the Patriots took down CSU Pueblo. She took 133 games to reach the feat and is the winningest coach in UT Tyler program history.
  • The Patriots will bring back just five players, including All-LSC Honorable Mention player Polina Latysheva, along with Mileina SablinskaiteMariah NealKK Bass, and Zionna Barbee.
  • Joining the Patriots will be freshman newcomers Leila DavisHayley CummingMackenzie MitchellGeorgia TomkinsEdit MerivirtaAvery AlcarazJorja Hart, and Salome Svani. The transfer class includes Lilli Hakkarainen and Nikolina Vukcevic as they all look to make a big impact on the Patriots this season.
  • The Patriots are 17-8 through 25 games and are 13-3 in LSC play, scoring 60.1 points per game on 38.3% shooting and 29.2% from beyond the arc. They are holding opponents to just 51.2 points per game on 36.6% shooting and 27.8% from deep.
  • That staunch defense is one of the best in Division II, ranking 4th in scoring defense, 16th in steals per game, 13th in turnover margin, and 29th in turnovers forced per game.
  • Leila Davis leads the team at 12.2 points per game on 51.7% shooting. She is grabbing a team-high 6.0 rebounds per game and is adding 37 assists, 37 steals, and nine blocks. Polina Latysheva is averaging 10.2 points per game while posting 86 assists and 59 steals.
 
THE PIONEERS

Texas Woman's comes into Tuesday's matchup ranked #2 in the latest WBCA Top 25 Coaches Poll. They are 22-1 on the year and 16-0 in LSC play. Their lone loss was back on November 8th against then #25 Harding.
 
The Pioneers are scoring 71.6 points per game while allowing 55.8 to their opponents. They are shooting 45.5% from the field and 32.5% from deep while allowing 35.5% from the field and 28.5% from beyond the arc to their opponents. Individually they are led by Averee Kleinhans, who is scoring 17.2 points per game while grabbing 6.2 rebounds per game and posting 70 assists and 40 steals.
 
Texas Woman's leads the all-time series at 8-4 and have won four of the last five. The last matchup the Patriots won was on their home court back on November 23rd, 2024.
 
THE COMETS
 
UT Dallas is in the midst of transitioning to NCAA Division II, and they are in their inaugural Lone Star Conference season. They are 10-12 overall and 7-8 in LSC play. They have dropped four of their last five, with their last win coming on February 7th against Midwestern State.
 
The Comets are scoring 64.2 points per game on 40.1% shooting and 28.4% from beyond the arc. Their opponents are scoring 61.6 points per game on 36.5% shooting and 24.8% from beyond the arc. Individually, they are led by Umi Otsuka, who is scoring 15.6 points per game on 44.5% shooting. She leads the team in assists with 67 and has 22 steals and 11 blocks.
 
Thursday's matchup will be the first between the two teams since February 9th, 2019, when both teams battled it out in the American Southwest Conference. The Comets are 17-11 all-time in the series, and they have won each of the last six matchups.
