THE LSC RACE
 
Texas Woman's stands alone at the top of the latest LSC rankings at 12-0 after last week's games. West Texas A&M is second at 11-1, and UT Tyler is right behind at 10-2 and in solo third. Just eight games remain in the conference season, and Lubbock Christian, Texas A&M International, Eastern New Mexico, Angelo State, and St. Mary's currently make up the LSC Tournament field.
 
PATRIOTS NOTES AND TRENDS
  • UT Tyler finished the 2024-25 season 25-5 overall and made their third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance before bowing out in the first round.
  • Last season the Patriots finished 13-1 on their home floor, raising their mark to 61-8 under head coach Rebecca Alvidrez inside the Herrington Patriot Center prior to the 2025-26 season.
  • In the last four seasons (including 2024-25), the Patriots are a combined 31-13 in non-conference matchups, including a 12-3 record at home in non-conference games.
  • Head Coach Rebecca Alvidrez is now 121-57 all time in her four season career, and she is 112-38 in her time at UT Tyler.
  • Coach Alvidrez won her 100th career game on January 30th, 2025 as the Patriots took down Cameron. It took just 148 games for Alvidrez to reach the milestone, and she is now in her fifth season as a head coach.
  • Alvidrez won her 100th game at UT Tyler on November 14th, 2025 as the Patriots took down CSU Pueblo. She took 133 games to reach the feat and is the winningest coach in UT Tyler program history.
  • The Patriots will bring back just five players, including All-LSC Honorable Mention player Polina Latysheva, along with Mileina SablinskaiteMariah NealKK Bass, and Zionna Barbee.
  • Joining the Patriots will be freshman newcomers Leila DavisHayley CummingMackenzie MitchellGeorgia TomkinsEdit MerivirtaAvery AlcarazJorja Hart, and Salome Svani. The transfer class includes Lilli Hakkarainen and Nikolina Vukcevic as they all look to make a big impact on the Patriots this season.
  • The Patriots are 14-7 through 18 games and are 10-2 in LSC play, scoring 58.8 points per game on 37.9% shooting and 28.9% from beyond the arc. They are holding opponents to just 50 points per game on 36.7% shooting and 27.8% from deep.
  • That staunch defense is one of the best in Division II, ranking 1st in scoring defense, 14th in steals per game, 13th in turnover margin, and 23rd in turnovers forced per game.
  • Leila Davis leads the team at 11.1 points per game on 50% shooting. She is grabbing a team-high 6.1 rebounds per game and is adding 29 assists, 32 steals, and six blocks. Polina Latysheva is averaging 10.1 points per game while posting 64 assists and 50 steals.
 
THE PIONEERS
 
Texas Woman's is ranked #3 in the latest WBCA Coaches Poll and are 18-1 on the year and a perfect 12-0 in LSC play. Their only loss of the season was against then #25 Harding back on November 8th.
 
The Pioneers are scoring 72.6 points per game on 45.9% shooting from the field and 32.2% from beyond the arc. They are holding opponents to 57.3 points per game on 36.8% shooting and 29.9% from beyond the arc. Individually, they are led by Averee Kleinhans, who is averaging 18.3 points per game on 46.4% shooting. She leads the team in total three pointers, assists, and steals.
 
Texas Woman's leads the all-time series at 7-4 and have won three of the last four meetings. Last season the two teams split their two matchups, and the Pioneers have won the last two meetings in Denton.
