PLAYER OF THE WEEK
In the final weekend of LSC play,
Hayley Cumming delivered a strong defensive performance and was named the LSC Defensive Player of the Week.
Against Texas A&M-Kingsville, she scored 19 points to lead the team, but then added four rebounds, two blocks, and three steals as the Patriots took a dominant win.
Against Texas A&M International, she scored nine points, but made an even bigger impact on defense. She grabbed three rebounds and a steal, but added a new program-record seven blocks, including five in the fourth quarter.
ALL-CONFERENCE RECOGNITION
The Patriots garnered six total honors at the season-ending banquet on Wednesday night.
Mariah Neal, a senior from Nacogdoches, Texas, was named the LSC Sixth Woman of the Year, becoming the second Patriot to ever earn the honor.
Leila Davis and
Polina Latysheva each found spots on the All-LSC Second Team, and
Hayley Cumming was named All-LSC Honorable Mention. Davis and Cumming also picked up nods on the All-Freshman team, becoming the first Patriots pair to be named to the All-Freshman team in the same season.
THE LONE STAR CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP
The LSC Tournament will begin on Friday, where the Patriots hold the No. 3 seed inside the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas.
No. 1 seed Texas Womans, No. 2 seed West Texas A&M, No. 3 seed UT Tyler, No. 4 seed Lubbock Christian, No. 5 seed Eastern New Mexico, No. 6 seed Angelo State, No. 7 seed St. Mary's, and No. 8 seed UT Permian Basin make up this year's field.
Teams will play at 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. in session one, and then session two will be at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
The winners of those games will match up on Saturday at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., and then the championship game will take place on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
HISTORY AT THE LSC CHAMPIONSHIP
UT Tyler is 4-4 all-time at the LSC Championship, all under head coach
Rebecca Alvidrez. The Patriots have one at least one game in all but one appearance, and have made the LSC Tournament Semifinals in each appearance except for 2025.
The Patriots went 2-1 in the 12 team field in 2021, went 1-1 in both 2022 and 2023, and lost their first round matchup last season to No. 6 seed Texas A&M-Kingsville.
PATRIOTS NOTES AND TRENDS
- UT Tyler finished the 2024-25 season 25-5 overall and made their third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance before bowing out in the first round.

- Alvidrez won her 100th game at UT Tyler on November 14th, 2025 as the Patriots took down CSU Pueblo. She took 133 games to reach the feat and is the winningest coach in UT Tyler program history.
- The Patriots will bring back just five players, including All-LSC Honorable Mention player Polina Latysheva, along with Mileina Sablinskaite, Mariah Neal, KK Bass, and Zionna Barbee.
- Joining the Patriots will be freshman newcomers Leila Davis, Hayley Cumming, Mackenzie Mitchell, Georgia Tomkins, Edit Merivirta, Avery Alcaraz, Jorja Hart, and Salome Svani. The transfer class includes Lilli Hakkarainen and Nikolina Vukcevic as they all look to make a big impact on the Patriots this season.
- The Patriots are 20-9 through 27 games and finished the year 16-4 in LSC play, scoring 60.2 points per game on 38.6% shooting and 28.8% from beyond the arc. They are holding opponents to just 51.8 points per game on 36.6% shooting and 28.3% from deep.

Angelo State heads into the LSC Tournament as the No. 6 seed after going 15-11 on the season and 13-7 in LSC play. Majik Esquivel and Landry Morrow earned All-LSC honors for the team, with Esquivel on the First Team and Morrow on the Third Team.
The team is averaging 63.3 points per game on 37.5% shooting and 30.1% from beyond the arc. Their opponents are scoring 59.4 points per game on 35.8% shooting and 30.3% from beyond the arc.
