TWO CLOSE CONTESTS
A second-half comeback came up just short as Texas A&M-Kingsville buried a game-winning shot with six seconds on the clock to steal a 58-57 win over UT Tyler on Thursday night. SeniorÂ
Terrell Wilson converted a pair of free throw attempts with 31 seconds remaining to give UT Tyler a two-point lead at 57-55 before Texas A&M-Kingsville dribbled out the clock and opted for the game winning three-point attempt with six seconds remaining. The conversion on that attempt concluded a second half in which UT Tyler largely outplayed the Javelinas, outscoring Texas A&M-Kingsville by a 30-to-27 margin. UT Tyler connected on seven of their first 12 shots of the second half to erase a 31-27 halftime deficit and took a 42-41 lead with 10:09 remaining in the game. The game remained a one-possession contest for the rest of the 10 minutes of play from that point forward.

Wilson andÂ
Hasaan Herrington each totaled eight points on a night in which UT Tyler went 23-for-59 (39.0 percent) from the field as a team. The Patriots then threatened the Texas A&M International lead all game behind 28 points from seniorÂ
Rashun Williams despite an 80-76 win for the Dustdevils on senior day. Williams went 7-for-14 from the field and made 10-from-11 at the free throw line to extend his streak of 15 or more points to seven straight games with the 28-point effort. Guards
 Wilson andÂ
Jordan Hairston both added double-digit scoring efforts with 11 and 10 respectively, on an afternoon in which UT Tyler shot 44.4 percent (24-for-54) from the field. Texas A&M International scored the first nine points of the ballgame and held the advantage for all 40 minutes of the contest despite the strong offensive showing from the Williams, Wilson and Hairston trio. UT Tyler cut the deficit to 17-15 with 11:50 remaining in the first half and stayed within striking distance for the remainder of the half despite a 41-37 lead for the Dustdevils at the break.
WHAT COACH WILSON IS SAYING
On last weekend's games against Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International... "They were two tightly contested games. As has been consistent throughout the year Texas A&M-Kingsville made some big shots, and we made some big mistakes. Alot of credit to Texas A&M International, they've just been a grind team all year using their defense, they've struggled like us offensively. We had to fight our way back into that game, and I want to actually give our kids credit because we had some young kids on the floor at the end of the game that would not roll over and we were able to give ourselves a chance."
On the message to his team facing must win games at UT Permian Basin and Angelo State... "Untill the wheels fall off. We're going to roll until the wheels fall off the bus. We don't have any intention to back up and we don't care what the situation is. We're blessed with an opportunity to compete and play college basketball. We are going to be active participants in trying to figure out how to win games and we're going to do that until the wheels fall off."
