Men's Track & Field Dalton Johnson

Patriots Kick Off Indoor Track Season at Pittsburg State

The Patriots will have plenty to build on as they begin their opening campaign of the 2024-25 indoor season.

THE 2023-24 INDOOR SEASON

Last season, both men's and women's programs finished the LSC Indoor Championships with their best placements in program history as the women placed third and the men fifth. The Patriots relied on All-LSC First Team honorees Abeni Kratzmeyer, Aerin Thompson, and Juliane Frueh to record a substantial amount of points for the women's team, and Ashton Turner and David Soto put together strong runs themselves for the men to help propel the Patriots forward.

Kratzmeyer, Frueh, and Thompson each would go on to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships, where all three recorded an All-American finish. It was the first time in program history that three Patriots earned All-American honors at the indoor championships.

SOME NEW, SOME FAMILIAR

The Patriots will set their eyes on the indoor season with some new faces as well as some strong returners. Thompson, Frueh, Jasmine Haywood, Kamaria Carr, and Isabel Jakobsen are among a group that will lead a host of newcomers on the women's side. Those newcomers include Hannah Lakin, Kymia Woodard, and Jada Owens as they look to help make an immediate impact.

For the men, they return several big names including Ashton Turner, Brandon Arenas, David Soto, MThabisi MPofu, and William Davis as they look to continue their strong careers thus far. They will lead a cast of newcomers that features standouts Alejandro Rosales, Dylan Bennett, and Caleb Williams as the Patriots continue to look to vault themselves into conference championship contention.

THE BOO ROGERS COMBINED EVENTS AND CRIMSON & GOLD INVITE

This week's event will be hosted by Pittsburg State at the Robert W. Plaster Center on the campus of Pittsburg State in Pittsburg, Kansas. This will be the first of three trips to Pittsburg for the Patriots during the indoor season that will culminate in the LSC Indoor Championships on February 27-28 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The Boo Rogers Combined Events will take place beginning at 1 p.m. on Friday as the pentathlon and heptathlon will get started. In the evening, the 5,000 meter runs for both men and women in the Crimson & Gold Invite will take place.

Saturday's Crimson & Gold Invite gets started at 11:30 as the women's 60 meter hurdles begin the competition. The field events will begin at noon as the men's weight throw will be the first event on the docket.
