Patriots Ready to Roll at Indoor Championships

The Patriots have more student-athletes representing the program than ever at this year’s NCAA Indoor Championships as they will compete in several events.

SETTING THE STAGE

UT Tyler will be represented by athletes competing in the men's 60 meter hurdles, 200 meters, and 4x400 meter relay, and in the women's 400 meters and 4x400 meter relay.

The Patriots would set each of those qualifying marks at the LSC Indoor Championships held last month, as the Patriots stormed their way to a pair of fourth place finishes for both sides.

Ashton Turner will represent the Patriots in both the 60 meter hurdles and the 4x400 relay. He ran a time of 7.90 in the 60 meter hurdles at the LSC Championships on his way to second place finish. He also paired with teammates Caleb Williams, William Davis, and Landon Smith to complete a time of 3:10.81 as they ran their way to a fourth place finish at the LSC Championship and a qualifying time.

Dylan Bennett will represent the Patriots in the 200 meters, as he ran a time of 21.12 in the championships to place third overall and earn an NCAA qualifying mark.

On the women's side, Aerin Thompson represents the Patriots women in the 400 meters after running a 53.69 at the LSC Championships to place third overall. She will be paired with teammates Hannah Lakin, Kamaria Carr, and Kymia Woodard as the quartet ran a time of 3:40.56 to place second and set the seventh fastest time of the year in Division II.

THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

This year's NCAA Indoor Championships will take place at the Fall Creek Pavilion at Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, Indiana. This will be the first time that the indoor championships will be held in Indianapolis.

This year's meet will be a three day affair, with a majority of the preliminary rounds taking place over the first two days. The Patriots will first compete on Thursday at approximately 4:35 p.m. CT, when Aerin Thompson will compete in the 400 meter preliminary round.

On Friday, Ashton Turner will run in the 60 meter hurdles at approximately 3:30 p.m. CT, and Dylan Bennett will run just behind him in the 200 meters at approximately 4:20 p.m. CT.

On Saturday, the 60 meter hurdles finals will be at 1:30 p.m. CT, the 400 meter finals will be at 2:35 p.m. CT, the 200 meter finals will be at 3:30 p.m. CT, and the 4x400 meter relays will be run at 4:15 p.m. CT and 4:30 p.m. CT.
