ARLINGTON, TEXAS – UT Tyler tennis earned 11 All-Lone Star Conference awards at the season ending awards banquet on Wednesday night while head coach
Chris Bizot won the LSC Men's Coach of the Year honor and
Martin Despodov earned Co-Newcomer of the Year honors.
Head coach
Chris Bizot won his second Lone Star Conference Men's Tennis Coach of the Year award and first since 2023 after leading the Patriots to an 8-0 record and the 2025 LSC Regular Season Title. The Patriots finished the regular season 21-1 overall and are riding an 18 match win streak heading into the LSC Tournament. This is the Patriots third LSC Regular Season title in program history and second under Bizot.
Sophomore
Martin Despodov was named the LSC Co-Newcomer of the Year as he played a huge role for the Patriots throughout the year. He finished the regular season with a singles record of 14-5 and LSC record of 5-2.
Carel Wessel and
Daniil Felker each earned a spot on the LSC All-Academic Team, LSC Honorable Mention Singles, and LSC Honorable Mention Doubles. Wessel would also earn a place on the LSC Sportsmanship Team. Wessel was 6-8 overall on the year in singles and was 1-3 in LSC play this spring. Felker played to a record of 13-3 on the season and 5-1 in LSC play, including undefeated marks at the #2 and #3 lines. The pair combined for a doubles record of 12-4 overall and 3-1 in LSC play, with each of those matches coming at the number one line.
Freshman
Artiom Dorofeev was the Patriots lone All-LSC First Team nod in singles. Dorofeev has played to a blistering record of 18-1 this spring and is 6-1 in LSC play, including a 4-0 record at the #1 line.
Fellow freshman
Malo Poulesquen earned a placement on the All-LSC Second Team singles team. Poulesquen went 16-3 during the regular season and a stout 6-1 in LSC play while posting perfect records in the #4 and #6 lines.
The two also paired up for a strong doubles team, and they earned All-LSC Honorable Mention doubles honors. They combined for a 13-3 record and went a perfect 6-0 in LSC competition this spring.
UT Tyler will now focus on the LSC Tournament, where they are the number one seed. They will await their opponent based on tomorrow's quarterfinal match between Midwestern State and Cameron. They will play that opponent on Friday at 9 a.m.
