TYLER, TEXAS – Artiom Dorofeev has been named the national ITA Division II Rookie of the Year and the South Central Region Rookie of the Year while head coach
Chris Bizot was named the Men's South Central Region Coach of the Year and
Yona Bancarel was named the women's South Central Region Rookie of the Year.
Artiom Dorofeev earns the first ITA Rookie of the Year honor since
Egor Shestakov won the honor back in 2021. Dorofeev, a freshman from Paris, France, has been a lights out addition to the Patriots this season. He went 19-1 during the dual match season, primarily in the #2 line. In doubles, he put together a 13-4 record, also primarily in the #2 line. His efforts combined to help the Patriots to a 22-2 record and a fourth straight trip to the NCAA Round of 16.
Yona Bancarel earned the South Central Region Rookie of the Year, the first time in the history of the women's program that someone earned that award. Bancarel, a freshman from Toulouse, France, played a huge role in the Patriots going 18-10 on the season and helped lead them to their first ever LSC Tournament championship match. She finished the season 14-6 overall, primarily in the #1 line, and also played to an 11-7 record in doubles, also primarily in the #1 line.
Head coach
Chris Bizot earned the Men's South Central Region Coach of the Year honor, his first since returning to the Patriots prior to the 2023 season. Bizot has led the Patriots to their best record of the Division II era at 22-2 thus far and their third LSC Regular Season Championship in program history. The Patriots qualified for the NCAA Round of 16 for the fourth straight season and third straight under his leadership.
