HAWAIIAN NIGHT PRESENTED BY UT HEALTH EASY TEXAS
 

The Patriots will have Hawaiian Night on Thursday night as they host Lubbock Christian inside the HPC. There will be 500 Hawaiian shirts given away along with a student tailgate beginning at 4 p.m. and free food. Additionally, the ZOOperstars will be performing at halftime of the women's and men's game.
 
FIRST RESPONDERS / MILITARY APPRECIATION NIGHT
 
On Saturday, UT Tyler will host First Responders/Military Appreciation Night with all military personnel and first responders receiving free admission. There will be retired members of the United States Marines serving as honorary captains for each game, as well as in game promotions during both games.

PATRIOTS NOTES AND TRENDS
  • UT Tyler finished the 2024–25 season 8–20 overall and 5–17 in Lone Star Conference play, but the Patriots were competitive throughout the year with 12 games decided by 10 points or fewer.
  • Last season the Patriots went 5–10 on their home floor, 3–8 on the road, and 0–2 at neutral sites. UT Tyler finished non-conference play with a 3–3 record.
  • Of the 12 games decided by 10 points or fewer, the Patriots were within a single possession in the final minutes in a handful of those contests and held second-half leads in several.
  • UT Tyler returns four athletes from last year, including LSC Male Athletic Performance Athlete of the Year Sam Phipps, along with Hudson AndersonPatrick Carr, and Mate Kapanadze.
  • The Patriots add four junior college transfers—Chris CarpenterXavier WilliamsSean Emfinger, and Kyle Morgan—each arriving from strong JUCO programs and bringing toughness, size, and proven winning habits.
  • Transfer guard Boston Caldwell joins the Patriots after producing at both the junior college and Division III levels and is expected to contribute immediately.
  • A strong group of Australian newcomers also joins the roster, including freshmen Noah SuarjayaHeath Tenner, and Spencer Gaze, along with Greg Fowlds and Jacob Bell. The group is expected to boost the team's shooting, depth, and overall skill level.
  • The Patriots are 7-4 to start the year while shooting 48.4% from the field and 32% from deep while grabbing 40.1 rebounds per game and forcing 14.2 turnovers per game.
  • Sean Emfinger leads the Patriots with 11.2 points per game on 58% shooting and continues to be one of the team's top perimeter threat with 11 threes at a 35.5% clip. Sam Phipps controls the interior with 7.4 rebounds per game and a team-best 22 blocks and adding 22 steals, while Xavier Williams steers the offense with a 47-to-30 assist-to-turnover ratio.
THE CHAPS
 
Lubbock Christian will head to the HPC on Thursday night ranked #5 in the latest national poll and 16-3 overall and 7-2 in LSC play. They went 1-1 in their last week games, with a win over then #16 West Texas A&M and then a lose in their last matchup against #24 Eastern New Mexico.
 
The Chaps are scoring 79.6 points per game on 50% shooting from the field and 39% from beyond the arc. Their opponents are scoring 68.9 points per game on 42.1% from the field and 31.2% from deep. Individually, Amondo Miles Jr. and Antonio Pusateri are leading the offense at 19.4 and 16.4 points per game. Miles Jr. is shooting 49.3% from the field while grabbing 8.7 rebounds per game while adding 68 assists and 27 steals. Dow Kendall is leading the team in three pointers with 52 total on 41.9% shooting from deep.
 
Lubbock Christian leads the all-time series at 7-0. The Chaps took the most recent meeting last season by a score of 59-51.
 
THE MUSTANGS
 
Midwestern State is 5-10 overall and 3-5 in LSC play so far this year and won their last meeting in LSC competition against #16 West Texas A&M by two points. Before their last win they had lost 7 straight with their last win coming on December 5th against UT Permian Basin.
 
The Mustangs are scoring 76.1 points per game and allowing 80.3 points per game to their opponents. They are shooting 44% from the floor and 32.3% from deep while allowing opponents to shoot 45.3% from the floor and 34.8% from deep. Individually, Jonathan Jackson leads the team at 10.9 points per game on 45% shooting while totaling 18 steals and 4.3 rebounds per game.
 
Midwestern State holds a 6-4 advantage in the all-time series that dates back to 2020. In the series, the Mustangs won the last three matchups following UT Tyler's three straight wins.
