WHAT A SEASON
The Patriots have been elite throughout the year, finishing no worse than fourth in their nine regular season events. They have taken two wins, one at The Southern Invite in February, and another at the Emerald Coast Classic in March.
Behind the team success, four different players are ranked inside the top 100 nationally in individual rankings, and those four players are also ranked inside the top 15 regionally.
NCAA RANKINGS
The third and final regional rankings of the season dropped on Friday from the NCAA, and the Patriots were ranked second for the second straight week. The top 18 teams in the West Region will advance into the NCAA West Region Tournament, and the Patriots have likely all but locked in their third appearance into the NCAA tournament.
HIGH RANKINGS
The Patriots as a team rank #7 nationally in the latest Scoreboard Rankings as updated on Wednesday, and they are #6 in the latest WGCA rankings as released on Friday.
Martha Laremark is ranked #24 nationally,
Arnie Taguines sits at #38,
Lucy Kate Smith is #50, and
Karina Duran is #56. Regionally, the quartet is ranked #7, #9, #12, and #15, respectively.
THE LSC TOURNAMENT
The Patriots will take on the Lone Star Conference Tournament at Rockwall Golf & Athletic Club beginning on Monday morning. The format will be 36 holes on Monday followed by 18 on Tuesday.
From there, the top four teams will advance into medal match play. The #1 and #4 seed will face off, as well as the #2 and #3 seed. The winners of those two matches will move into the championship round to determine the LSC Tournament team champion and earn the automatic bid into the NCAA West Regional Tournament.
ON THE HORIZON
The top 18 teams and six individuals not on those teams in the West Region will be selected for the NCAA West Region Tournament, with the top five teams and top two individuals then advancing into the NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament.
The Patriots have made two team appearances into the West Region tournament, most recently in the 2024-25 season where they finished tied for sixth and narrowly missed the cutoff mark to qualify for the national championship.
As a team the Patriots are looking for their first NCAA National Championship Tournament appearance of the Division II era and first since the 2016-17 season. Individually, both
Arnie Taguines (2025) and
Martha Laremark (2023) have made appearances at the national championship.
