GOODYEAR, ARIZONA – UT Tyler women's golf sits in a tie for seventh after the first day of action at the Palm Valley Classic at Palm Valley Golf Club.
The 27 team field is currently led by CSU Pueblo, who shot an opening round 291. UT Tyler is just five shots back of the lead and one shot outside the top five.
The Patriots were led on the day by
Emmerson Doyle, who fired a two under par 70. She made four birdies, two on each of the nines and 12 total pars en route to the under par round.
Lucy Kate Smith and
Martha Laremark were also counting scores on Friday, both firing matching scores of 75. Both made a pair of birdies in their rounds, and combined for 23 total pars.
The final counting score came from
Karina Duran, who closed with a 76. She made a total of 13 pars and one birdie in her effort.
Doyle sits in a tie for third place on the individual leaderboard, just two shots out of the top spot. Smith and Laremark are both tied for 38
th, and Duran is tied for 51
st.
Arnie Taguines is tied for 92
nd after an opening round 79.
