AMARILLO, TEXAS – The UT Tyler men's golf team finished up play in the Ryan Palmer Invitational with a final round 290 on Tuesday.
Senior
Carson Whitton posted his second round at par or better of the event on Tuesday with a final round 70 to help lead the Patriots to a 12
th place team finish. UT Tyler shot a three-round total of 864 (279-295-290) for the event, securing head-to-head victories over Lone Star Conference foes DBU, UAFS and Lubbock Christian.
Oklahoma Christian claimed the team title with an 823 (283-267-273) behind a pair of first place finishers on the individual leaderboard with 204 totals in Oskari Nikku and Exequiel Rodriguez.
Whitton made two birdies and two bogeys in Tuesday's final round at Amarillo Country Club to finish the event with a 213 (66-77-70) total, good enough for a tie for 29
th place. Junior
Carter Lewis posted a 72 and
Jackson Naeger and
Seth Campbell both carded 74's to round out the four counting scores for UT Tyler.
Lewis finished in a tie for 31
st place with rounds of 70-72-72 for a 214 total. Naeger tied for 50
th place with a 217 (72-71-74) and Campbell in a tie for 70
th place with a 223.
Junior
Jackson Powers rounded out the team with a tie for 83
rd place and a 228 (77-75-76) total.
UT Tyler will head back from Amarillo with head-to-head victories over five South Central Regional foes and will make their way to Wichita Falls, Texas for the third event of the 2022-23 season at the Midwestern State Invitational at Wichita Falls Country Club on Oct. 10-11.
