Alex Kopenhaver shot an even-par round of 70 and freshman
Jackson Naeger posted a 74 to lead UT Tyler to a 303 in Tuesday's final round action at the Oak Tree Invitational.
The Patriots finished the event in sixth place on the East Course at Oak Tree Country Club, dropping a spot on the leaderboard behind West Texas A&M on Tuesday, with an 896 (306-287-303) total. Naeger finished in a tie for 12
th on the individual leaderboard after carding the low round of the tournament in Monday's second round with a four-under 66.
Naeger followed up that outstanding round yesterday afternoon with a 74 this morning to finish eight-over par for the event with a 218 (78-66-74) total for the three rounds.
Host Oklahoma Christian captured the team crown with team scores of 292-281-289 for an 862 total and were led by individual champion Mateo Pulcini, who fired rounds of 70-71-70 to finish one-over par for the tournament.
Kopenhaver made five birdies in route to his Tuesday even-par round, and finished just outside the top 25 on the individual leaderboard in a tie for 27
th place with a 225 (77-77-70) total for the three rounds. His final round was spurred by a two-under par front nine score of 33 that featured two birdies and seven pars.
Sophomore
Carter Lewis posted the third counting score of the final round for UT Tyler with a 78, and finished his tournament with a 231 (78-75-78) total. Sophomore
Garrett Honeycutt rounded out the counting scores with an 81 on Tuesday, and finished in a tie for 37
th place with a 227 (75-71-78) three-round total.
Sophomore
Jackson Powers carded a final round 83 to finish in a tie for 55
th place with a 234 (76-75-83) total. Freshman
Ryan Willis completed his Patriot debut as an individual competitor with rounds of 77-77-79 for a 233 total and a tie for 53
rd place finish.
UT Tyler will return home for their next event as hosts of the King-Alfred Spring Invitational at Eagles Bluff Country Club in Bullard, Texas.
